Yes I too am making a Headcrab. I know you all have seen it and Im not trying to compare myself with Flyingdebris. Because he has already proven himself to be the King Of The Crabs. But I was inspired by his work so I figured what the hell, Im bored.

With that in mind I give you my progress so far. It is only wireframe but I plan on "skinning" it tomorrow.

You could have at least distinguished yourself from the pack and made a Houndeye... but it's still looking good. Keep it up. :thumbs:

LOL! You can't wear a Houndeye. Besides that would be hard as hell to do. Oh Flying did the scientist zombie and I am doing the marine zombie.

get overmyself? i never said i had one myself, i just said there are probably more constructive things you could do with your time Then he said he does have one he just neglects sleep, so i guess my comment now is get more sleep.

I probably have 2x more free time than he does and I go to school full time, have a girlfriend AND full time job. Doesn't mean he "has no life". Idiot.
 
i dont see how you can work full time and go to school fulltime and have a girlfriend.

maybe you just smoke crack fulltime.
 
i go to school full time and have a girlfriend, if i had a job full time i'd probably kill myself.

The wireframe is looking good, is it my imagination or is it a bit smaller than FD's? Sort of a headcrab hat rather than a full-face mask? :)

Are you going to take a leaf out of FD's book on how to cover it, or do you have different plans?

I agree that a houndeye would be a bit hard to wear, but a headcrab is the ultimate fashion statement! :) Or maybe you're just after the free HL2.... ;)

I think that someone should make a houndeye like Non-Sequitur suggested. And maybe a pack of snarks. I love those little guys!!!

As ghetto as it sounds I am using vinyel and packing tape. I know packing tape it sounds dumb but it is working pretty well. As for the fact that it looks a bit smaller, it is. You will get the full effect by tilting it forward a bit when its on your head.

I just finished covering it so I will have pictures on tonight. I have yet to paint it that will come later. And as to the comment about me having too much time, and that I need a girl friend. I see no differance in productivity weather your posting on a forum such as this or building a Headcrab. So with that said I am thankful for the encouragement and lets keep it nice.

Managed to get the pictures out tell me what you think.
 
When I saw the wireframe I was hoping someone would do a headcrab with sculpey or however you spell it, bake it, cast a mold and create latex masks. but again its just a wireframe with wrapped up tape. bit dissapointed to be honest
 
Looking good, the packing tape gives it a sort of 'baby headcrab' look, like the ones gonarch attacked with. Still looking good. What sort of accessories do you have planned?

Or a barnacle that you could actually hang from the ceiling of your room...


I'm going to try and find some scrap metal and try to make a Manhack. I seriously doubt that i'll even get off my ass long enough to stick parts together....
 
Oooh oooh, give it little boots, a badass tatoo on its back, and some... LEG RINGS! :) Do it.

Oooooh, a manhack. Original! Make it out of scrap metal with a rubberband power source and you could probably take someones head off!

So many HL2 models and costumes being made...

I'm thinking that I might stop by a Goodwill and find a battery powered drill and take that apart and use the motor out of that to make teh blades spin......this is... if I can get off my ass and get motivated...bleh...

Im doing the Marine Zombie as asposed to the Scientist Zombie. And I am also making wireframe claws later. Ill post when they are ready.
 
Does anyone have a clear picture of what a Manhack looks like?

most of the images of a manhack are too blurry to make out any detail..... *shrugs*

Well its 1:15 am and the last bit of my life just slipped down the drain, I just finished putting the first layer of paint on. Keep in mind the colors are a little off at this point but I thought I would post regardless. Also if you have any suggestions I would love to here them. :thumbs:
 
That's pretty neat, nice job :D!

You and flyingdebris, mixed with my infatuation with HL2, are causing me to feel like I need to create a really cool model myself.
I have a boatload of unused clothes hangars in my closet... maybe I can dismantle all of them and create a wireframe for a.... hmmm... any ideas anyone?

Wow, looking good.

i think your headcrab is looking a whole lot more faithful to the original design than mine.

alas i did not get to wear the zombie costume this weekend at megacon when i realized how horribly uncomfortable walking around half blind for 6 hours would be like.

i decided just to wear the combine suit.

back on topic though

yeah that headcrab of yours is gonna kick all sorts of ass, you seem to be making all the right ideas regarding its construction.
