The L Word actress Leisha Hailey says she was kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight after kissing her girlfriend.

In a series of tweets Monday, Hailey wrote that she and fashion designer Nina Garduno, who have been together since 2006, "were escorted off the plane for getting upset about the issue."

"I have been discriminated against by @SouthwestAir," she tweeted. "Flt. attendant said that it was a 'family' airline and kissing was not ok."

From an aesthetic point of view how could anyone but a closeted white middle aged female be offended?
Unless of course her GF is the butch type....but even then your turning a non issue in to something that embarrassed two young women.I hope the Conservetard that complained can sleep better at night knowing she did her duty as a Christian (lol)

Well I don't think it's her fault.I blame the person who complained who had to be 40 something closeted lesbo and jesus freak. :)

Googled them both, and that's certainly not the case. However whether it looks appealing or not is not the issue. This is discrimination pure and simple.

EDIT: Also those comments on the news article are a fine display of stupidity.

Well, if they kicked out other non-lesbians for kissing their lovers, I suppose we all would have no problem with this. Huh.

Yeah, I bet right before boarding the plane they have a big sign saying "No kissing allowed!"

God damn that sounds like middle school with wings.

Uh, yeah the person who complained wasn't the one who removed them from the plane.

Being told they can't kiss while straight couples can and do all the time is discrimination. Being kicked off an airplane for escalating a minor issue into screamout in close quarters with dozens of other paying customers is not. Neither is being told they can't have sloppy minutes-long make out sessions. The complaints, according to SWA were about excessiveness, not gayness.

Yeah if it was more than just a peck or something that's understandable. It's just not needed on an airplane.

Initial reports indicate that we received several passenger complaints characterizing the behavior as excessive. Our crew, responsible for the comfort of all Customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behavior and not gender. The conversation escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground, as opposed to in flight.

Huh. I guess I should read the articles after all.

excuse me miss, the guy in front of me is gonna need a new seat.

I really really doubt this is discrimination, I would be pissed if I had to sit on a plane with people that were constantly making out (a quick kiss I could deal with) and even more pissed if they constantly argues with the flight attendants and winged about discrimination. They need to realise that they're in a closed public place and stuff like this isn't acceptable.

yeah i would bet that they were sucking face, and no straight couple who was told to stop the PDA would make the news.

but hey could be wrong its a bunch of hearsay

Aye if it was a case of tonsil tennis and they got all shirty about being asked to stop I don't see the problem with them being removed.

Can I use the bathroom for about 15 minutes before take-off?

I'm pretty sure it meant no overboard PDA from anyone. Not "youre off cuz youre lez!"

My reflex thought when reading the article was "GOD DAMN GAY BASHERS AGAIN". But thinking about it now, I echo the sentiments of others here. I'd probably be a bit uncomfortable around a straight couple who were really going at it on a confined flight. If that was truly the case here, it's hard to have much sympathy for the stink they're making.

people seem to be getting confused over the story details

they were kicked off the plane for arguing not for kissing. sure kissing is what brought them to the attention of the flight attendant who asked them to stop kissing but they were escorted off the plane for arguing with the flight crew:

"Hailey wrote that she and fashion designer Nina Garduno, who have been together since 2006, "were escorted off the plane for getting upset about the issue."
"

all those who said they were going at it hot and heavy are just speculating

Jesus Christ, the immaturity and shallowness from some of you people is disgusting. The **** does it matter what they look like?

if your refering to me Monkey my opening point was meant in jest.Sorry if it came across another way.

all those who said they were going at it hot and heavy are just speculating

what else are we supposed to do in a hearsay thing like this? just not talk about it, lock the thread? also, no shit.

the article implies the argument was caused by the flight attendant telling them to stop kissing. so the popular assumption around here is that they were originally told not to kiss because they were really goin at it, and nothing more. it's easier for me to believe that a celebrity's response to being publicly humiliated for being rude is to pretend they were the victim, rather than believe that a flight attendant put their job in jeopardy by being malicious to customers just because they're gay

all those who said they were going at it hot and heavy are just speculating

But slightly less so than those argue otherwise. The article says that there are reports that the attendants "received several passenger complaints characterizing the behavior as excessive." So thats one piece of evidence to the hot-and-heavy column, no pieces of evidence to the innocent-peck column.

all they really need is one prude, one homophobe and one wontsomeonepleasethinkofthechildrenhystericalmom to complain

surprisingly enough lots of people are prudes. especially when it comes to displays of affection from da gays

also:

It was swearing - not kissing - that got a lesbian actress and her girlfriend escorted off a plane as it sat at a Texas airport, Southwest Airlines say.

The airline said the couple became profane after being reprimanded for what actress Leisha Hailey characterised as "one modest kiss".

Hailey and partner Camila Grey also denied in a statement on Tuesday that the affection they showed toward each other was inappropriate.

"We want to make it clear we were not making out or creating any kind of spectacle of ourselves, it was one modest kiss," the written statement said.

"We are responsible adult women who walk through the world with dignity. We were simply being affectionate like any normal couple."

I'm willing to bet had the couple been heterosexual nobody here would have accused them of being "hot and heavy"

i dont know, maybe using your heads? I mean I quoted from the OP quote from the article. all of you read it but jumped to conclusions anyways. also:

actress and her girlfriend escorted off a plane as it sat at a Texas airport

ya no homophobes in texas it must mean that they were grinding while waving rainbow flags

im willing to bet that if the celebrity couple were straight, it either would never have made the news, or the media would be mocking them completely.

same article
"Although we have reports of what customers characterise as an excessive public display of affection, ultimately their aggressive reaction led to their removal from the aircraft."

so pretty much, you respond to this story with your own personal bias. mine is against attention seeking celebrities, sterns is in defense of the gay community. no one can be objectively wrong, and throwing around insults is pretty goddamn stupid.

if the celebrity couple were straight people wouldnt have complained about a "modest kiss". had it been excessive it still wouldnt have made the news. the getting thrown off a plane is the reason they made the news. even when the facts are pointed out to you, you still think they were kicked off for kissing

so pretty much, you respond to this story with your own personal bias.

lol my personal bias? I was clarifying a point most of you got wrong. how is that "personal bias"?

mine is against attention seeking celebrities,

right, they were seeking attention by kissing on a plane on a tarmac in texas.

sterns is in defense of the gay community.

defending the gay community by telling people they got their facts wrong? right

no one can be objectively wrong,

yes you can

and throwing around insults is pretty goddamn stupid.

what insults? you're far too touchy. this is an ongoing pattern with you; you think everyone is out to attack you

jesus christ stern give it a rest, this is just pathetic

apparently it is a "fact" that it was a single modest kiss, despite how the article tells both sides of the story. my only point was that nobody can actually say with absolute certainty in a hearsay story like this, but since stern was obviously there, he can tell us we are all latently homophobic!

and are you really denying that youre trying to mock people who think they might've deserved to be told not to kiss? because you are actually doing that. i guess lets jump on the "yuri is so sensitive!" bandwagon though thats cool.

"Facts" as in what one person says versus another? There are no facts here, its all hearsay like Yuri said in the first place.

I was referring to the fact that they were escorted off the plane for arguing not kissing

yuri said:

not my fault you cant follow and think everything is a personal attack. the FACT was that they were arguing with the flight attendant and THAT'S what got them booted off the plane.

but they were arguing because they were told to stop kissing? also how does that statement help your argument again?

i can follow just fine, its you who cant admit youre wrong and keep digging a hole for your arrogant posts. the fact is that they were thrown off for cursing and arguing, the only other fact is that they were told not to kiss. whether or not that kiss was modest or wet hot and sloppy is not a fact, so any basis you think you have to tell people they are objectively wrong is stupid.

lol no you cant follow at all. people were saying they were kicked off for kissing. it's right there in the freakin title of this thread

the fact is that they were thrown off for cursing and arguing

yet many people missed this fact. that's it. no further explanation of my initial point is needed; there is no defense of the gay community implied as you suggest

...haha what. i think you are now using the "completely confusing statement" troll tactic

everyone is aware they were kicked off for arguing. everyone in this thread. your weird tactic is not going to work. the actual issue of the thread though was that they were told to not kiss, which led to the argument. people are discussing if they should or should not have been reprimanded for kissing. but thats obvious and clear in every post, so im sure youre using this as a distraction from how you dont make any goddamn sense.

see thats a thing you do. you say some stupid crap, people call you out on it, and you make the issue about something else entirely, as if everyone doesnt understand what you were saying in the first place.

for clarity's sake, they were told not to kiss and kicked off the plane after the ensuing argument. whether or not they shouldve been told not to kiss is subjective and no one can say with certainty if it was justified. i am willing to believe it was, and the humiliated celebrity couple are making themselves victims to salvage their egos.

Wait, if thats the fact you're referring too, then this whole argument is over nothing, because:
1) Yuri already acknowledged that fact
2) Yuri's only speculation was whether they were going at it "hot and heavy"
3) You called out Yuri's speculation on it
4) Yuri basically says "what else are we supposed to do but speculate" in regards to hotness and heaviness
5) Now for no reason you accuse him of not using his brain and realizing the fact that they were kicked off for making a scene
6) Confusion ensues because Yuri already acknowledged that fact, and we had moved on already to discussing what the complaint was about in the first place, and therefore assumed, like I did, that you were claiming that there were facts known about the hot and heaviness.

funny how you're always the ones who misunderstands what I'm saying. I think it's because you're a paranoid ninny who overreacts at the slightest provocation. this isnt the first time yuri and it certainly wont be the last. every single one of our interactions is you over reacting to something I've said and getting all the details wrong. I'm not the only one who's been victem to your knee jerk reaction; it's your calling card. I've tried to be civil with you but why bother when you're just going to go off the cuff regardless of what I say

oh stern, this is just wildly pathetic. i appreciate krynn's third party recollection of events here, and i hope everyone can see what just went down because it made no ****ing sense at all even a little

and now that the logic has been shoved up your ass, youre gonna blame it on me going "off the cuff." bravo, stern, you are a stand-up poster.

I said people could use their heads and not jump to conclusions as to why they were thrown off the plane. I didnt single out yuri. I meant "you" as the people who posted about the kissing being the reason they were kicked off. my fault for saying "you people" instead of "the people who said they were kicked off "

and really I didnt get pissed till he started accusing me of blindly defending the gay community and accusing me of insulting people when all I did was ask people to use their heads. which is why I said he was over reacting. that seems to be the pattern for every discussion we have. frankly I've grown to expect it.

no one posted that they were kicked off because of kissing. everyone in this thread understands what happened.

i was one of the people you were referring to being "objectively wrong" because i thought it was likely that they were sloppin it up.

i never said you "blindly" defended the gay community. i said any opinion on the kissing is based on personal bias, which was in no way meant to be accusatory.

asking people to "use their heads" is mockery when it is based on your personal, interpreted opinion of a situation.

youre just piles and piles of wrong in this thread, but you keep blaming it on me somehow. how do you keep this up?
