heat-wave.jpg

Anyone else going through a massive heatwave right now?? I live in Buffalo, NY and all this week its supposed to be in the 90s. I'm used to cooler temps and the sad part is, no AC in my part of the house. We have a pool but the water is like 83 degrees. Only thing that helps is ice cream putting my wrists under the cold tap water and cold showers. Anyone have any other tips for surviving the heat.

Also I've been feeling faint today, and I think its because I overslept my usual 8 hrs. I tried looking online but does anyone know which direction you should face a fan during the summer. Is it up towards the ceiling or is it the other way.

Heat Wave

I'm near Boston so I'm in the same heat. Luckily I have a pool and an office with central air. I love the heat though, I spent my entire Monday laying out by the pool with music and a book. (Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, great read)

yeah I was outside all but one hour yesterday and i think thats all it took for me to feel ill for today. But I'm on vacation too and playing tons of games and relaxing. If I was at work this week I'd be 10 times worse because the AC doesn't reach my department as much as the break room or management offices.

Are you vacationing in Buffalo, NY?

This is the first chance I've had to be able to sit outside the pool all weekend and tan. My back got raped but I'm a stern believer in burning first, tanning later.

Oh god today was awful. I had to play a show today outside and it was about 40 celsius.

It's 63* F and rainy here in southern California. Weird. It's been a very cool summer so far.

Almost the same thing as the OP's weather, just checked it and it may be like this well into next week :x

I'm doing a staycation like I always seem to do. Last time I went somewhere as Toronto a few years back. I really don't like traveling much, and I always seem to come back more tired than when I left. I can't wait till tonight though, I love putting my little fan in the window and sucking in all the cold air

Like 92 degrees today, humidity through the roof.....hot as BALLS.

Same here. So far, the coastal OC is extremely gloomy and damp throughout the whole day, with lots of drizzle in the morning. I like it, mostly because the sweltering heat in summers is something that I really detest.

Oh, here's a good tip to deal with heat:

submerge any sort of headweaer (hat, bandana) and wear it. Feels great

33C today...US of A needs to be in sync with the rest of the world and switch to METRIC.

It's about 102F in my neck of the woods here in the North East. It's days like today that make me happy I spent the cash for a nice window AC unit.

Oh yeah, very hot. It's been upper 90s and 100 for a few days now here in Virginia.
I must be weird though, everyone's been complaining about the heat and for some reason it never even crossed my mind. I'm also outside for 6+ hours out of my day after work.. just doesn't feel hot.

Yeah, it's 99 F. here. I'm going running in a bit. Luckily I've got a path in the shaded area of the woods. It should cool down as the sun goes down and I drink a lot before going.

with this heat I just simply eat less and exercise in my pool or basement. that and drink so much I feel like I'm going to pee myself silly

AKA summer. Whiny ass white boys mother ****ers. Man up.

It's been pretty hot though. I work without a shirt. It's pretty sexy.

My mom's car thermometer said the outside temp was 105F outside our house. Looks like its supposed to cool off quite a bit though.

Bitch, I just got back from Louisiana. We were having this weather in February.

Oh yeah? Well I had no shirt on, at all. For almost the entire day. Like I have on winter.

Not all of us are so fortunate to have natural shading, the summer sun directly hits the largest part of my house for about 8 hours each day. Makes me really happy that we put up some heavy duty window film, saves electricity because of less AC use on top of keeping it cool by reflecting back a lot of that heat energy from the sun.

I've always hated hot weather. I don't think it reached 100 here but I still felt very sick, possibly because I was already sick with a stomach virus for a few days. Worst part is that I'm not supposed to eat any ice cream now since people tend to get lactose intolerant after a stomach virus.

It's the humidity that gets me. Makes me fill dizzy and inebriated. Stuffy head and whatnot.

Maybe thats what I have now. I'm going to go in my pool after 9 here. also maybe my hot neighbor wants to go for a swim too :naughty:

These localized temperatures of course in themselves don't at all represent the fact of a warming planet with changing climate.

But you just have to wonder sometimes why the people who proclaim that it's so cold where they are at this point in time(thus global warming is debunked), or snowing when it normally doesn't, aren't saying the same thing about the hot days.

None of this shit can be judged by localized temperatures, only when looked at upon a global scale. Also, winters are generally cold, summers generally hot. lol

It's also frequently hit 100 here. Pretty insufferable. Glad as ****ing hell I'm no longer out there working in that heat. I would be dead.

Yeah. We went to Shreveport to gamble(I lost $100) this last saturday... and the humidity was so ****ing unbearable. Even in the casinos you could feel it. They had air conditioning but the air seemed so stagnant as if it wasn't being moved around enough. A storm had recently been through, so that didn't help things.

There is something wrong with me...when I read the thread title I thought of semen.

I had to get out of my car in the parking lot and walk to the front door of my job. It was ****ing hotter than shit getting there. I think we hit 100.

haha, i was thinking the same thing today (while on the shitter). My mom was(is?) one of those people. This winter she mention global warming sarcastically and i was all "thats stupid, and you're stupid. Temporary, localized weather patterns that fluctuate all the time aren't evidence that the planet isn't getting warmer in the grander sense."

Only I didn't say that, because its hard to tell when my mom is joking or not, so she might have been sarcastic in jest. If I was sure she was serious, I might have gone on one of my bitterly sarcastic attacks today. I would have been all "Man, those morons who think global warming isn't real sure were right! ITS ONLY 102 DEGREES OUT TODAY!!" and then she would be all "thats stupid, and you're stupid. Temporary, localized weather patterns that fluctuate all the time aren't evidence that the planet isn't getting warmer in the grander sense" and I would have been all "Whateva bitch, i'm like you and I create evidence whenever I want it using out-of-context data that holds no value whatsoever to the argument at hand due to the the fact that the current temperature is much more a factor of the fluctuating nature of micro-weather patterns while our argument revolves around macro-weather patterns." And she'd be all like "You're just a dog, stop barking so loud!"

Haha. Man... my dad and his wife are people who do the exact same thing. Except they don't joke. Every time they mention global warming or some other shit being ridiculous, I just keep my mouth shut. I really don't want to get into a pointless stupid argument about it.

It's the same with other retarded things. One day we were driving to my Uncle's for some birthday celebrations... and we were behind a vehicle that had a big bumper sticker which read, "Where's the Birth Certificate?"

My dad's wife proclaimed, "That's a very good question."

And **** man, I so badly wanted to just say, "No it's not. It's a stupid question, and you're stupid for thinking it isn't."

But... I just sad there holding my tongue. I'm alone in a sea of staunch conservatives, and it's frustrating feeling like I can't speak about anything without it stirring up a big shit storm.

I love my Uncle and he's an awesome dude, but he also said something incredibly retarded shortly after the election when we were visiting. His hair was arranged it what seemed like cornrows, and looked very unusual... and we were joking about it and he suddenly said, "Now that Obama's president, we'll all have to wear cornrows".

I just said there blinking... what? He listens to a lot of Rush Limbaugh/Glenn Beck and the like.

Anyway... /random shit

Wait, Raz... are you not wearing your hair in cornrows? Obama actually DID make that into a law last month, you better get on that, the grace period is almost up.

Oh shit, but I don't have enough hair for that! What if I just shave wacky geometric designs instead?

I was swimming in my pool tonight and still didn't feel relieving at all!! I need to take a cold shower or start taking off yet another layer of clothes

*looks outside for first time in days* It's raining, bro.

Thank God it rains here

My god, yesterday was insane. Especially since I was right in the thick of a crowd at a concert.

It's not even 11am yet here in North Carolina and it's already 95 degrees. High today is supposed to be in the low 100s. Miserable heat.

On a better note, my girlfriend and I are adopting a kitten today :D
