I've been a huge fan of House for some time now, and watching this last season has been disappointing. It seems that House himself is indifferent to whatever happens around him instead of vindictive (which makes for boring dialogue) and there are no real implications to the crises in the show. What I mean by this is that there will be some crisis that could potentially change the show or characters forever (which is interesting) and then by the end of the episode the crisis involving the team will be averted and everything will go back to normal, making little or no impact. I'm disappointed in the writing because there seem to have been a lot of missed opportunities here. Anybody else feel the same way?

You can only cure impossible to diagnose sicknesses so many times. I honestly can't think of many more places this show can take without turning into an out-right drama with little to no comedy. I say they should just kinda stop while it's ahead....

NOTE, I've not seen any of the 5th season yet, but I loved the first four!

I never warmed to the new team in season 4, I always enjoyed when Cameron / Foreman / Chase stumbled back into the scene for a couple scenes. I assume that isn't going to change in Season 5 either (not a single episode has aired in the UK yet). I do like the show a great deal but I don't have the same anticipation about this series as I previously did, otherwise I would have found a way to stream them online.

Yes. It's just like Monk. That show was awesome until they just didn't have any plot left. Now its the final season of Monk.

House is all about House, when they do an episode that focuses on him alone in some unique situation, like the episode on the plane, or the brilliant story about the bus crash, then I really enjoy it, however the usual case by case formula is wearing pretty thin.

I like the new season. I took awhile to warm up to the new team, but I find it was a necessary push to keep the show fresh.

This.

The new team is pretty worthless, even medically. Kutner constantly comes up with the insane idea, while Taub and Thirteen sit back and have bullshit going on with their personal lives, like anyone cares.

Last night's episode is a perfect example of why this show stays on the air, though. The episodes that focus on House are pretty intense.

Never really saw the appeal of House.

House needs to bang the shit out of Cuddy already. I mean seriously the writers have pissed around with that storyline for ****ing ages (at least 2 seasons now..), the guy finally puts the lips on her, and then goes all school boy about it the following episode instead of taking her vigorously doggy style in the middle of a diagnostic differential ........ mother****ering writers..... :flame:

I don't mind the new faces, 13 is hotter than Cameron, and Taub and Kutner make for an unconventional pair. Omar 'soul patch' Epps is dialing it in these days and Wilson is a spectre.

For the life of me I do not remotely understand why Chase & Cameron are still on the main credits, given the fact they barely feature and the others who do are still listed as guest stars. Use em or lose em I say. Also where's the 13/Cameron Trist we all wanted? No one wants to see Omar Epps getting some....mother****ing writers .... ;)

I've completely lost interest in this show. I used to really like it, now it's just meh...

True, actually this statement pretty much defined the latest episode.

It's just a bit too formulaic for my taste.

Every episode is exactly the same from the medical standpoint:

problem
obvious cure, house doesn't want it
but omg, his BP is 120/90 despite as oxymoprotein drip, house takes the case!
toss around ideas for 25 minutes
solve problem
oh noes, he vomits blood because his liver shut down, we didn't solve the problem!
spend 15 minutes re-solving the problem
house notices a gum wrapper on the floor
Of course! Everybody knows gum has preoxydohydrean which reacts with the sodium hipostalutate in her shampoo, which is why her doadinum exploded!
house is happy, house swallows a pill.

But people watch it for the characters and the banter.

WOAH! latest episode has seriously changed things guys!! :O

Pretty cool how last night's was filmed so much darker than the others.

The "twist" thing really kind of came out of nowhere. Decent episode.

I stopped watching it after the 3 season. I hate the new team. I want my Chase back!

Sorry to revive an old thread, but season 6 has arrived. How do you guys like it? I personally think it's going very well in this newer direction.

I really liked the institution stuff, but next week's preview suggests that House is going to have his old team back (Chase / Cameron / Foreman) and even temporarily I hate that idea. They're all such boring characters.

Agreed. They played out Cameron & chase fully, and Foreman is just a boring stick. I actually preferred 13 and Taub because they are new and have different, and have interesting lives. It was unfortunate that Kutner decided to leave the show, as it reduced the potential. I'm hoping that Taub returns when House is inevitably reinstated.

Well in my opinion only House, Wilson and Cuddy matter, the other characters are expendable.

And yes they've managed to renew my interest in this show.

I loved the season premiere and I'm curious as to how they're gong to handle having the old team back.

Yep. I'm sick of Taub, Thirteen might have a few good storylines yet. Word on the grapevine is that Cameron is going to be written out of the show this season.

Another good one, this time with James Earl Jones guest starring. This show is really making a comeback after last season's lackluster nature.

I actually didn't care for the episode too much except for when House was on screen. The ending was looking quite interesting until Foreman burned the paper, ending that possibility of a story arc.

What? How do you figure?

Chase faked a test to kill the guy. Once the autopsy results come back they're gonna find out. Disposing of the sign-in sheet to show where he got the blood doesn't erase or hide the crime.

Yeah, I guess that's true. Interesting where it's going to go.

Im pretty sure it won't go anywhere...

I might be wrong though, and that'd be cool.

The preview for next week suggests at the very least some kind of Morbidity and Mortality conference.

Quite enjoyed this episode. I like how the ending presented essentially the same conflict as Watchmen on a smaller scale. I was kind of bored by the amputee plot though.

Yeah, I guess that's true. Interesting where it's going to go.

There's going to be investigations into the dictator's death, either by US or wherever-he-came-from government officials. This isn't over by a long shot, which makes sense, given a head of state died.
