how will halflife 2 run on these specs? do you need more info?

Intel® Pentium® 4 with Hyper-Threading Technology
processer speed= 3.2E GHz
bus= 800MHz
cache mem.= 1MB on die Level 2
RAM= 1.0GB
hard drive= 200.0GB
graphics ATI RADEON X300 (16X PCI Express)

thanks. cant wait to play. another thing... im getting this comp at best buy tomarrow should i get halflife 2 there or download it off steam. do i get HL2 deathmatch when i purchase it or have to download it online.

Get it there, I suggest. Having a hard copy is way more reliable.

Pesmerga, you can backup your things on cd's or dvd's for a hard copy.
And in all technicallity it isn't more reliable.
When you install HL2 to your account it can never ever be put on another account. Thus if you download it off steam u just have to re dl. If you buy the CD you just reinstall.
Or after your first dl you can just download it off steam and make backups.

One of just as relaible as the other.
I would go with steam, more money valve.

HL2DM you dl off steam. It's like 40megs, real fast dl on a 56k.

If i were you i'd get it off steam. Like he said above, you can just back it up. Plus you get ore for your money. Silver package is so cool.

And HL2 will run like a dream on that computer you have :) Happy gaming!

Hang on, an X300? :sleep:

Isn't that a *budget* graphics card... not very good for playing HL2 at full speed. Everything else in that system is very good compared to the X300.

I'm not saying HL2 won't run... you just won't be able to run it at highest settings with high fps :upstare:

The x300 is comparable to a 9800. The 9800 runs a little faster (In both memory and core) but the x300 he has is PCI-Express, which means its pipelines will run faster I think.

I run HL2 on a 9800 256mb at highest settings (reflect world), 2x aa, 8x af, 1152x864 resolution and I get 25-65 fps.

Id have to agree with Slainchild, the X300 isnt the best card and i hope you dont plan to play HL2 with all the goodies.

Everything should run great except your video card..:rolleyes:

In fact, it is more comparable to a 9600 (non-pro)

Quote from a hardware site:

"Clearly it’s faster than the Radeon 9550, so maybe it would be more accurate to expect Radeon 9600 performance? Either way, priced at $140 US the PowerColor Radeon X300 is clearly a low-end Radeon graphics card with the added bonus of PCIe support."
"However, if purchased with the intent of playing a few games at low resolutions with sacrificed visual quality, the Radeon X300 would be the ideal budget solution. The PowerColor Radeon X300 is more than capable of this. Consumers will only run into problems when they expect to play the latest titles such as Doom 3, with settings anywhere near “High”

i dont really care about how great it looks just want it to run.

I hate these opportunity threads to 'show off my new rig' kinda thing. He is asking us if it will run or not, giving a system that will obviously run it. We cant predict the future, so why dont you install the game and find out lol. If i get 512mb more ram, you wont find me asking how much more faster my computer will run

www.ati.com ... lol?

I was wrong about the rendering pipelines though, 9800 has 8 while x300 has 4. My mistake. And mad props to you for replying in two different messages instead of using one, don't pull a "bigbrother" on us.

Considering the minimum and recommended requirements could be found on google or by visiting Sierra, Vivendi, Valve, steam, yeah it is kinda annoying for people to ask such a stupid question.

pci-e means he can buy another x300 of the same type ect and run them both in dual mode

Hmm... I can see that you wont have any problems running this game on Max settings

You cant run 2 x300's. That is only possible with nVidia SLI technology.

Why don't you just look at the minimum and Recommended Systems specs instead of posting your giant computer and ask if it will run it, gee, use your head

But...but...you haven't lived if you haven't played HL2 with full settings.
