i currently have PC133 SDRAM in my system (i know, i know, it's old stuff) but how do i find out if my system can run faster ram (if that is possible)?

PC133 is the fastest SDRAM.
Only if your board has separate slots for DDR could it support faster ram.
There were some transition boards when DDR was introduced that had 2 SDRAM slots and 2 DDR slots.
Use one or the other. Very few of those boards and yours is most likely not one of them.

PC133? It's not. Normally the easiest way is to check your motherboard manual, or else look up your chipset, but for the most part, PC133 is the fastest SDR SDRAM available. You could probably find SDR RAM with faster timings, but the preformance increase wouldn't be worth it.

There are some hybrid boards with both SDR and DDR slots... If you have one of these (which you probably don't) then it's a different story.
