Yes. I know that already. That is how it detected the viruses in the first place!

What I need to know is what to do next. How do I fix/delete/heal it?
Set-by-step would be nice.

u need to run the scanner! it should automaticly sort em out!

it actually finds the viruses by using real-time scanning! it scans things in the background then nags you to run AVG

I already ran the scanner (Test Center->Scan Computer).
Now what? It has like no options for removing viruses. I'm lost here. I've been trying and trying but no luck.

BTW: I have the FREE EDITION.

well i figured it out simply enough.
um dunno then, sorry.

YEP, go to start menu || Programmes || then click run AVG for windows!

NOTE: AVG free edition might not be worth having i have that and my pc is f***** lol

Let me know if thius works

Nope. It still doesn't work. After the scanning is finished, some AVG window pops up saying Automatic Healing Results: 0 files were healed. Then another window pops up saying Virus Found! I can either Display Test Configuration from that window or close it. I close it. And now what?

Oh dear sounds like a deep virus maybe you should Format C:? then invest in a better anti-virus scanner?

A deep virus? NOOooooooooooo!!

Also, the status of the object(virus) is: Infected, Embedded object. What does that mean?

Also.......umm....how do I format C:?:O

EDIT: The virus name is: Java/ByteVerify

the virus is therefore embedded deep in the system 32 so you will need to format c: ( take to local pc store or sumthing) and delet everything on your pc!!!

try and find the troubled folder and TRY to delete it good luck :D

if the name is Java/ByteVerify type that into the search engine on you pc and it might bring up the file it is in

just an idea :D

Isn't there any other way of formatting my PC without taking it to my local PC store?

Also, could you explain in step-by-step order on how to format C: by myself?

EDIT: NO results were found when using search on my PC.

Don't take it to the store, it's really not that hard to do. Been a little while but I think you can just boot from the windows xp disk and it should give you the option somewhere.

Just make sure to back up everything you don't want to lose, because it's going to completely wipe your hard drive clean.

I want to do this right. I want to go through with formatting my HDD. So, how do I backup what I want?

EDIT: Does it ask me what I want to backup when I reformat?

you should have abackup disc just indsert that and hey presto!!!!
I have a Windows XP Home Edition CD and that is all. I can't seem to find a backup disc. Unless, that is it.

No it won't ask you. It erases everything on the drive. If you only have one partition then the only way to back things up is to burn a CD, use a zip disk, or use a USB memory stick. Make sure to do a thorough check to make sure you save everything you need or want, because there won't be any second chance to do so.

Then once you've reformatted you'll have to reinstall windows and then reinstall all your drivers.

Here some info:

I'd suggest just searching around with google for some good step by step instructions.

I suppose. I've always just done it manually, but that would work fine. You will still need a CD-R, zip disk, or memory stick, or extra harddrive to put the information on though.
Ok. Could you possibly help me with what and where I am at?
I am at the point where I choose where I want to save my backup. I put a blank CD in my CD drive. So then I make it the D:\ to where my backup things will be saved, right?

EDIT: I can't even do that. It gives me an error when I click next. :|
What now?
EDIT2: I just read that it can't save directly to a CD-RW Drive. ;(

Ya, it can't burn the CD for you. But you can just tell it to back it up somewhere on your harddrive and then burn that file onto a CD.

Explain. How do I do that?
Starting at the point where I choose where to backup my files.

I mean, how can I backup that stuff on my harddrive and save it if my HDD is going to be wiped clean? It doesn't make any sense.

Umm...I'm still stumped at this step. ;(

Help.
