how do I install direct x 9.0, getting error!

I get an error when installing it :/. It says something like "This software is not(not been tested) designed for windows, shutting down". What shall I do to solve this problem? its not only happening on Direct x, I get it in some other programs too.

I'd get it from teh windows website just to be sure

what version do you have now?

type in "dxdiag" in run and see what version it says it is.

mine says direct x 9.0b. does that mean i need to upgrade to c? or is it just meant to be different?

It is best if you upgrade to DirectX9.0c.

i just upgraded from microsofts page, i had 9.0b, upgraded to 9.0c and it worked fine. If that helps lol, i dont know why its not working for you, thats a bummer. Maybe try restarting then trying it? Maybe start in safe mode and install?

Does it matter that I got 9.0c when it was just the Redistributeable for Developers? Cause now there's the official one and the file is bigger than the one I got, should I get the official one? I ran dxdiag.exe and it said the version was 9.0c and it looked like it had all the directx files and features, so does it matter?

No. The redist version will be and works just fine. It's what game companies (for example) could include in a game installer.

Not really. You should stay away from the developer drivers as they have some debugging settings that can be turned on by accident and can really badly affect performance.

It's in my sig. Geforce FX 5200 PCI. I'll be getting a 6800 for xmas. But I just checked on microsoft's site and looked at both of them, there's no difference really, the one I got is recommended for those who don't have an internet connection when something is installing, so I'm fine.
