How do you eliminate mouse lag for HL?

I'm having a spot of trouble with my mouse. Everytime I move it, the screen pauses for a second or two, then jumps looking at another area of the room. Do you know how to eliminate it. With Max Payne, I just set the compatibility to Mellenium edition in the properties and started working fine on that game. My guess is that its the graphics drivers that I have. I was wondering how you do it on the original HL as I have it registered on steam.

Windows XP

I never had a problem until I updated my drivers, so I'll proberbly reinstall when I get the disk over the weekend

probably your graphic card. sounds to me like you have a framerate issue.

like I said the problem only occured when updating my driver. Max Payne and HL ran fine before I updated but was able to eliminate the problem with Max. Heres hoping I can snatch a copy of HL:Source to solve the problem
