How does it run and your specs?

Amd Athlon 64 3500+
1024mb Pc3200 ddr ram
BFG Geforce 6800 Ultra
Asus A8V delux mobo/ no soundcard

1280x1024
All Settings maxed
4xAA/8xAF

Runs super smooth in game, with the occasional stutter just after a loading, but then it's fine.

P4 2.8 gHz HT
512 MB PC2700 DDR Ram
BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC (Further OC'ed to ultra speeds)
All settings maxed. 4x AA/8x AF, 1280x1024. After the 30 second loading times (midlevel, yes I know it's bad but it's worth it :(), and about 4 seconds to load the level in the RAM (which is that 'stutter' after a load), the game runs perfectly in massive firefights, and perfectly while just walking around.

My systems specs-
2.5ghz P4
512mb ddr ram
9200pro 128mb
120gig hdd

HL2 settings-
Res - 800x600
Model detail - High
Texture detail - Med
Water detail - lowest
Shadow detail - High
AA - None
AF - Trilinier
Shader detail - Low

The game runs suprisingly good, it isnt till near the end of the game where it is quite intense that I was gettin quite a few slow downs, also the load times were quite long but thats just down to my low ram.

I must say that Valve have did a great job with the source engine and how well it caters for low spec systems as well as the high.

CS : Source is a different story, that game gets un playable sometimes, but then again it is an online game so I would expect it to be more power hungry.

Asus A7A266
AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.4 GHz
256 DDR2100
20 GB Maxtor 7200 RPM
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128 MB
Hercules GameTheater XP

Not surprisingly, this setup doesn't run very well...loads slow, choppy, etc. Once things are loaded it runs fine, but nowhere near where it needs to be for gun battle. The only thing saving my ass is my video card, but the CPU and RAM are so bad it's a moot point. Looks like I'll be shopping around for new stuff. :(

P4 1.6 (OC to 2.2)
Abit IT7 Max board
512 MB RAM
Geforce Ti4200 (Gainward Golden Sample - Overclocked slightly)
40 GB HD with about 1GB free
Onboard sound (Realtek 650)
Steam Install

Running at 800x600 (with default settings).

Runs pretty good. A bit choppy at times (during loading or saving), but very playable, even during fights with many things happening at once. Load times are about 20-30 seconds mid-level.

Celeron 2.8

Radeon 9250 256MB (PCI)

It, surprisingly, runs great with medium settings and res set to 1024x768. I was very surprised.
Great! It will run on my system too because I have allmost same specs

AMD 64 3200+
1GB PC3200
2x120GB Maxtor 7200RPM 8MB cache (not RAID)
On-board sound (Nforce3-250Gb chipset)
Gainward Geforce 4 Ti 4400 128MB

I have most of my game settings on high with 2xAA at 1024x768.

I have the sound stuttering problem from time to time, and in the bigger fight scenes (esp around water) the fps drops quickly. The load times are long. I have not timed them, but 1 minute seems about right. But with this config, it runs better than I thought it would. Better video card would probably clean alot of the issues right up.

I probably need to look for Nforce driver updates. Got one of the latest drivers for the Ti4400 off Guru3d.

I have 512 ddr 3200 SupremeTop Ram, Radeon 9700 Pro Athlon xp 2600+. Can I run everything on high 1280X1024 without any spikes? And if not what should I upgrade?

specs in sig...

my settings are all maxed and yet i get coppy rates ranging from 132 to 20 fps! and it slows down for about 30secs after wach load screen plus my load times are well over a min! some1 help me

I checked out my fps and it looked like it was around 90-150 so I thought I'd try putting everything on max including AA and AF. and you know what, it looks great and runs almost exactly the same. It looks like I'm getting 60-100 fps, but the hang-up and stutterings are just the same as with the lower settings.

I'm yet to try it in a different area though, it could be just because I'm in a simple area, but with quite a few guards on the screen at any one time, it's doing quite well.

AMD 2400+
Asus A7V8X mobo
768MB PC2700
Geforce4 Ti 4600
WinXP SP2

1024x768, all settings on high

Indoors: 45-55 fps
Outdoors: 25-35 fps (but completely playable)

more ram should improve load times

AMD Athlon 1700+ 1.5 Ghz
512 PC2100 DDR
ATi Radeon 9200 128mb
4x AGP Mobo

20-40 FPS All settins high except for medium textures and models. 1024 x 768. High Shadows. 2x AA

my specs were: 1,7 p4, 9800pro 128mb, 768mb pc2100

i had it on low everything except, models[medium], res[1024*786], and it ran ok.
my new systerm, just finished building, 3200+ @2200, 1 gig ddr400, 9800pro 128mb, im hoping for 1024*786, aa+af 2-4, most stuff on medium/high, just waiting to get the save game files over.....

Running flawlessly. 1280x960 @ 85hz, 6x aa, 16x anisotropic, all settings high. Averages 44fps.

3.0ghz prescott @ 3.4ghz

all setting high, 2x AA, 4xAF 1024x786

Flawless except for that weird problem on quicksaves or whatever it is.

Specs in sig.

Running at 1280x1024, all settings maxed, 6AA & 16AF - runs perfectly!!!

Sig, But I have most things on Mid, and it runs great...only problem is...it doesn't look as good as it could with a different graphics card, I have had one crash, and it lags every now and then

One extreme to the other. I usually hit around 30-40 FPS on average, 70 in confined spaces with no NPCs. 100 without physic objects.
However 15-25 in firefights.
Models and textures on medium. Everything else at it's minimum. Running resolution 800xwhatever the figure is, 400?

2.8 Ghz Processor.
512 MB Ram
9000 series Radeon Card
160 GB HD, with 40 GB used.

Nothing I could do seemed to increase my FPS. =/

as soon as I started getting a group with me, my framerate went to hell... so I tried going with the recomendations and it's still not great. apparently I'm getting between 50 and 150fps, but it's the frequent freezing that pisses me off.

With your system if you upgraded only your vid card to maybe a 9800pro you could probably go on max or near max settings.

Northwood P4 2.53ghz
1gig DDR 333 PC2700 RAM
Radeon 9700 Pro
Creative 5.1 speakers and card (no audio bug here!)

Everything high, 1152x864. Runs good. A little jittery sometimes, and if a lot of barrels explode, there's some slowdown, but nothing a player as bad as me is worried about. ;)

Yes, and with a 2.8ghz processor, it'd be well worth it to get a better video card than that 9000 you're using (InnerDemon). 512 more RAM, and you'd have an excellent system, playing HL2 at max flawlessly.

XP 2800+
1GB PC3200
9800 Pro

Full settings, 2x AA, 2x AF, never slowed down once from start to finish.

1.5 ghz AMD Athlon XP Processor
512 MB's DDR 2700 Ram
Geforce 3 ti 200
Sound Blaster PCI 16 Bit

All Low settings except texture which are at Medium. A fluctuant 40 frames per second which drops down to about 5 for a few seconds after level loads. Running at 800*600 resolution. I am very surprised that Half-Life 2 ran so well on my system, I was exspecting maybe 20 FPS if I was lucky.

what's the difference between the monitor refresh rates?, can anybody explain?

1.3ghz Athlon T-Bird
640mb ram
Abit KT7-A mobo
GF4Ti4200 128
SBLive! Value

running on high settings at 1024 res, have to say i'm impressed, aside from the audio stutter the majourity of us are suffering from, once everythings loaded, it runs flawlessly, thank god :)

My specs:
AMD 1800+ @ 1.53 GHz
768 MB
Sapphire Radeon 9600 w/ 256 MB

I am running on 800x600, everything on 'high' (myself included) and 4x AA. Except for some jitters after a loading screen, everything works fine. 1024x768 is just a bit too much with these settings, but it's still playable enough to make screenshots.

PIII .787 GHz
512 MB
TNT2 Graphics Card

i would call it... playable :D
got it on low+med with lowest res and get mabye about 10 fps average :D

how do you find your fps in HL2? It runs very nice at everything high AA 4x and AF 8x. 1240x1028 res.

x800 pro (535/555)
P4 3GHz HT 800MHz fsb
1GB PC3200 ram

I think we all should take a moment to bow to Valve for some awesome optimization. It looks nicer than Doom3 (imo) with lesser requirements.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll take it into account, and is weight off my shoulders to know what I need.

Cheers.

The higher the smoother. Typically I won't go below 85Hz when gaming, let along any time. At 1024x768 resolution my refresh rate is at 120Hz, which is even smoother than 85Hz. I don't notice much diff above 100Hz.

Windows XP has a problem where games will always play at 60Hz(or something around that), which is bad. You can get around this by going into your nvidia driver or ati driver settings and setting locked numbers for your monitors resolution/refresh rates. But be careful, know your model/makes limitations to refresh rates as if you set it too high for the resolution(mine maxxes out at 85Hz at 1280x1024 resolution) you won't be able to see your screen as it will just be black and might give you a message like "no signal." Check your monitor manufacturers website for the specs on your model.

Example off of the Samsung website on one of its monitors:
Resolution

Max

2048x1536 @75Hz
VESA

1920x1440 @80Hz
1800x1440 @80Hz
1856x1392 @82Hz
1792x1344 @85Hz
1600x1200 @95Hz
1280x1024 @110Hz
1152x864 @129Hz
1024x768 @144Hz
800x600 @160Hz
640x480 @160Hz
Recommended

1,280x1,024 @85Hz

Usually the higher end the monitor is, the higher its refresh rates can go at higher res.

And for fps type in "cl_showfps 1" in the console to get fps to show, minus quotes. If it is capping at 30fps, type "fps_max 200" in console, minus the quotes, to uncap it.

1280 x 800 resolution, because I have a widescreen laptop.

3 gig processor, 9600 radeon card, 1 gig of ram.

It runs perfectly with all the settings turned up.

The game runs flawless, absolutely smooth at 1280x1024, Everything on highest settings, and 4x AA...

Athlon XP 2500+
1GB PC3200 Ram
Radeon 9800 PRO

fps will dip close to 30 at wide open points, and when the level loads I'll get major lag. 1024x768, 4Xaa, 16Xaf, all high.

X800pro
1024mb ram
3.0ghz p4 proc
p4s800 mobo

Laptop:
P4 2.6Ghz
512MB RAM
Mobility Radeon 9600
Everything high except water set to "World" (medium).

Runs pretty flawless, slight stutter from autosave and loading new objects, guess i need to defrag and get more RAM.

athlon 2800
512 megs of ram
9800 pro

runs great, nice framerate, only when im loadin a new area it stutters really bad, and when there is a new sound to load there is a stutter, im pretty posative more ram would solve this
