How f***ing extreme is my Grandad?

Last Sunday my Grandad was taken to hospital with quite a severe case of pneumonia and my entire family were really worried.

On Thursday, he was taken into Intensive Care and put on a ventilator and we all thought that he was going to die, but he pulled through and slowly started getting better.

Each day I was getting more confident about him actually surviving this ordeal.

And today, I am more sure than ever. Apparently (sadly I wasn't there, but my uncle was) this morning, my grandad regained conciousness, pulled the ventilator tube from his mouth, sat up and asked loudly for a cup of tea.

The very fact that he is his usual self, even in illness, has made me so happy, I thought I'd share it with all of you. :D

And you have to admit that pulling a ventilation tube from your throat is pretty hardcore.

Lets hope he can hold the pneumonia over his head, and crash it down onto his knee, busting its back!

Go super grand-dad!

How's his situation now? Hope he makes a full recovery, and yeah that's pretty hardcore, I like it when people defy the odds like that :D

I was dissapointed by the destinct lack of extreme sports. However, I'm glad he's doing better and I hope he continues to get better. I am also glad this wasn't a late April Fool's joke.

Good stuff. Let's hope he'll get well enough for a trip to the legion for a quiet read of the paper and a pint of 80 shilling. :D

Good news Reginald, let's hope he recovers.

On the topid of extreme grandfathers, mine broke his knee or something to a severe degree while dirtbiking in a race (there's your extreme sport OvA) back in the 80s, he was a huge athlete, and the doctor told him he would never be able to do any sports like running or swimming or biking (he did many triathlons) again. But he defied the odds and exercised his leg every day and he recovered, and went on to do many more competitions and all that, even in his old age. He was even in the newspaper.

And he still did those things until just recently actually, a few weeks ago, he did something to his leg or hips, it's that common thing with older people, I forget at the moment what it's called, but it's basically over for him with any kind of running or biking. He is very sad, all of my family is. But he's for sure going to live longer than the average person.

EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME!

Well, last I heard (about two hours ago) he was sitting up against a pillow reading the Daily Mails from the last 5 days in order. :afro:

...did you, by any chance, tell him he'd been in a coma for 5 years?

edit = damnit, I misread 5 days as 5 years. :(

I may tell him that anyway.

I'm glad to hear your Grandfather is getting well.

However I think my father is more extreme! Let me tell you.. My father had double pneumonia (both lungs) and refused to stay home from work. Didn't miss one day. He said he was holding onto counters to keep himself from collapsing but he did it. My father had 95-97% of his heart arteries clogged a couple months ago and we had to force him to take a couple days off work after surgery. His heart wasn't hardly functioning for years and he didn't notice. I saw him unconscious in the chair and called the ambulance. It wasn't easy, he keeps saying firmly, "I have to get back to work." This man .. when he gets sick you would hardly know it, you might only know it if his nose is running. When I get sick I am like a little baby in my bed moaning. I have to take off work from a cold or flu, I don't know about you guys. Some people just work differently.

Again I'm glad to hear your Grandfather is doing OK.

I am a sissy compared to your grandad(and your father, to the other guy).

I had walking pneumonia... and it was KICKING MY ASS.

pulling the ventilator tube out of your mouth? impressive. hopefully he'll make a full recovery.

I was expecting your grandad to fly out of a burning helicopter while pulling a 720 degree melon on some form of skateboard screaming "EXTREME".

But this is better.

What the hell is a 720 degree melon?

It's an ultra-rare fruit found exclusively around the indigenous peoples of Swaziland.

A melon is a skateboarding move where the person would grab onto the back of the board and push it forward, the 720 degree part is when they spin around 720 degrees.

Sqaure. D:

Nice one Reginald - good on yer grandad!

Not to want to steal his limelight, but does anyone remember that story of that really old fella in Africa (stupidly I forget which country, although it may have been Kenya) who killed a leopard with his bare hands?
Like I said, no offence to Reginald's grandad, but that's all kinds of f*cking extreme.

yeah, yeah! I remember that.
And, well, sorry everybody, but... sean connery owns your mother****ing puppy.

I really hate when my computer does that...it crashes, wont start for hours then all of the sudden it starts with no problems...

Ur grandpa or W/E deserves a Lap Dance!

Extreme grandads own, but normal grandads also own.

Wow your grandad is like the Grandads on the TV with snowboreds and such!

Wicked cool! :D

My grandpa is extreme too... If you walk up behind him and say hello, he'll chop you in the throat with the side of his hand faster than you can say "****!". I'm serious, he's that quick, and i've seen it happen.

well my grandpa broke his legs in the alps skiing at a hitler youth camp in like 1945, beat that.

true story

My grandfather, it is said, has a physique to match Atlas--nay, even unto short recoil. He's around 60, I believe. I've never heard of him performing amazing feats like pulling ventilation tubes from his mouth, but I wouldn't put it past him.

It is good to hear he is ok. My grandmother has recently been taken to the hospital for a fever. She is not doing too well but they say she will probably get better. Please say a short sentence prayer to help. Or if you don't believe in God can you send good vibes or something. And the whole thing that prayer does not help at all is bullshit. You can't measure God's divine power with a mortal experiment. They were stupid for wasting the money.

I'll wish for her to get better for you. :)
