How Gordon and Alyx survive the "Big Bang"

i predict a case of the explosion not getting all that much bigger and merely knocking gordon and alyx over, either that or the gman wisks them out of harms way then puts them back in harms way once the first explosion finished.

This is what I don't get. With the G-Man locking Freeman in stasis yet AGAIN, in preparedness for HL3.
I think it would be funny if the G-Man comes back and says; "Perhaps I was a bit too... hastey, Mr. Freeman.", then Gordon shows up at the spot he did before the G-Man "rescused" him.
And then, for the first time EVER, a cut scene happens of Gordon and Alyx excaping the Citadel as the Combine Dark Energy Fusion Reactor is blowing up.

The first chapter of Aftermath, is you and Alyx etc escaping the Citadel.

That could just be you in one of those stalker transport things, effectively a 'on rails cutscene' like when you play time crisis and you move like that but really long.

We've seen screens that suggest otherwise. Like Gordon holding the blue grav gun within the shaft.

Gordon wasn't put into stasis. People assumed that, but the reality is that he hasn't gone anywhere. The G-man froze time and blacked out his vision temporarily in order to deliver a message, and that's it.

The message is that Gordon has a new job. That job is set to take place in City 17 on the same day, at the same time.

I'm almost 100% certain the game will pick up at the exact second where the last one ended, and the explosion will be small.

I can only imagine...

Being blasted your way back into the room behind you, the platform falling off, and your health dropping to half. Sounds coo' :p

Aftermath is picking up on HL2's storyline. HL3 will probably be the end of the beginning of HL2:AM, unless there is another EP after AM...

Given what we know about the impending explosion and the evacuation of the city, I wonder what this new job would be. It appears Aftermath may have more significance than we realize. :bounce:

Your job is to survive... For the next job.

As for any other expansion packs, I'd say that Valve is going to release Aftermath and let other guys develop any further expansion packs, just like they handed over the making of EPs of HL1.

They have decided that they will be doing all of the expansions in house at Valve, they will certainly not be giving them to other developers.

When Breen was using the teleporter, you destroyed it just before he teleported. Its been known that Combine Teleporters can cause slowdown when destroyed (Remember?) This can lead to 2 theories.
1. The explosion was teleported to the planet Breen was heading through, of course, the teleport would have to take time to teleport the explosion, so you would be blasted back, perhaps injuried, but before the explosion grew, it imploded. But... no explosion from the implosion. (I would work on it more, but, I just thought of this on the spot, so it would be better to improve on it). The Citadel is in meltdown, well, because the Dark Generators collasped when Gordon was trying to stop the teleporter.
2. The teleporter exploded as it was teleporting, so it brought the top part of the citadel into a teleporting loop (Teleports to the same spot it was at) but, this causes a slowdown. The combine are able to predict this, and contain the explosion, stopping it before finishing the loop and capturing Gordon and Alyx. The Citadel is in meltdown, well, because the Dark Generators collasped when Gordon was trying to stop the teleporter. (Yeah, it could use improving too)

Umm what?
It is said in the interview in GameSpot that now all EPs will be made by Valve... Didn't notice that *all* future EPs will be made in-house at Valve.

Yah ha, now I understand

G-man used his powers to transfer Gordon and Alyx inside the citadel and now they have to escape.

Umm... Weren't they already in the Citadel?... I think G-Man simply stopped time to deliver his message.

And in Aftermath, he's gonna go "There is no spoon" with loads of colorful special effects, and then you're going to wake up amongs the dust and smoke, hearing someone cough... "*cough*Gordon, are you alright? Gordon, where are you?*cough*".

My friend made a good point last night, and I realized that this is probably what will happen. Remember in the beginning of HL2, when you first meet Alyx, and you're on the floor, and she's picking you up, standing over you? Well, he said, "I bet it will be just like that. You both wake up thrown back a little bit, or maybe not even in the same area of the citadel (G-Man's work), and she's all like, 'My god, what happened!? We have to get out of here now, Gordon!'"

And so begins Aftermath. Very probable, as once again, it eludes answering the whole, "ZOMGWTF DID G-MAN JUST DO HE H4X U5?kthxbai," scenario, but keeps the story going, and keeps us guessing.

Hopefully, just hopefully, will all the G-Man questions be answered at the end of HL3. Maybe some big climactic conversation, or who knows, some fight with the G-Man, during which he explains all of his uber leet powers and stuff.

Well that's exactly what I said. :p But God how would I love to use my grav. gun to remove the debris off Alyx, saving her... She always comes to save you, but it's never otherwise. :|

Or maybe they could of survived because...

The Dark-Energy Reactor hasn't had a full meltdown/explosion yet!

:O

Conspiracy!

Well the distance between the platform and where the smaller explosion occured is rather small. And when time was stopped, Alyx looked like she was about to take a flight back into the previous room. And, from what I recall, she didn't wear an HEV Suit.

Why the guessing? We're gonna find out soon anyway. Now G-Man needs discussing, because we won't know a god damn thing about him in the nearest 4 years :|

They wanted to make the explosion look like a nuclear explosion... ummm... wouldn't that mean it is a nuclear explosion, in a manner of speaking. Not a little explosion.

Didn't look like a nuclear explosion to me. Ever seen one?

or maby somehow they will go into a slow telaportation for like a week and then get there and be in the middle of a war

Or maybe I like Mechagodzilla's theory and the explosion will be minimally small.
