how hot is your computer (literally)

how hot does your computer get? and i mean heat (not other wierder stuff).

I mean, with halflife2 the game is going to push your pc to the max.

mine runs 59'c normally and 63'c when running homeworld2.

I'm scared to see what hl2 does to the heat. :smoking:

to keep it cool i've taken the side panel off and have a massive deskfan blowing cool air in.

i'm running an athlonxp2000
radeon 9800pro
512MB ram
2 x seagate harddrives (total 120MB)

Mines the same if not hotter. I don't like to turn up the fan on my CPU, gets loud as hell. But everything seems stable as is.

aren't you worried it'll burn out? what's the max temperature?

do u mean cpu?

if u do im 35c idle and 44c under load. its a 2500+ overclocked to a 3000+ i had it near a 3200 but it wasnt as stable as my setup now.

my 2800+ to a 3200+ temp [noload = 93 F] [underload = 102] I ramped the VCORE up a hair to get the lower temp & stability. oh btw volcano 11+ 5000 RPM

I got the same fan... loud as a mother..
I couldnt stand keeping mine clocked to a 3200+ cause I had to hear that rediculous ran swirling at 5kRPM. So I just keep it at a mere 3000+.

ive got a vantec tornado 5700+ RPM. it says 5700 RPM but it goes higher then that.

during the winter its around 37-43C, during the summer ive gotten it up to 49C with fullblast from the tornado. most of the time i dont have it up all the way since its too loud so my temps rise even more.

Very hot all the time, my geforce 2 gets hot enough to burn you if you touch the head sink. My psu is right in front of my cpu and has only one fan, my cpu hasnt burned up yet though after 2 years of use. Guess thats because its a pentium 3 and if it was an amd it would be gone by now.

idle=39c
Full apps/games running=43c

But this is cause my T(ras) is set to 11

29c.... and im not happy with its performance

nsxownzme I know what you mean man its loud but try some sound padding to muffle the noise, kinda like going into the bathroom with no towels or floor mats, how every thing echos.

i couldnt be more happy with my temps.

34c idle, 35-40c underload. This is with a 2800+, and a Vantec aeroflow, and 5 80mm fans.

My 9800pro isnt too hot either. Probably cause i have really good airflow in my case. 2 front intake fans, 2 back outtake fans, 1 side outtake fan. I can touch the HS on the card and its not too bad. Of course its hot, but i could leave my finger on it for a day and i wouldnt get burnt....Anyways, dose anyone know how i could find out my video card temp? Im just curious.

As a matter of fact, i have never passed 40c in any game w/ my cpu. Even after playing bf1942 for 2 hours.

HL2 is not going to make your cpu hotter than your other games do...thats silly. Just because its a new game dosnt mean its like a ****ing flame cannon or anything.

Board Temperature : 52.0°C
CPU Temperature : 47.5°C

hmm i dont run any games at the moment...

amd 2800+, generic heatsink and fan didn't cool enough, so I got a huge copper heat sink and strapped a case fan onto it.

I now run at 48 celsius idle, and max out at about 55 under load. If I really push it at 100% cpu for too it may get to 58ish, even 60.

At that point I give it a rest for a few minutes. I have one case fan pulling in from the front (although it can hardly get anything in) and one blowing out at the back. I also have a vent on the side, but it's not fan powered.

What worries me though is that the hot air blowing out the sides of my cpu heatsink blows right onto the back of my gfx card, which can sometimes be very hot to the touch. I wish there was a way to find the temp of a gfx card, and how I can somehow shield the card from the cpu exhaust heat.

I may look into watercooling in future, but I don't trust myself with that yet, plus I'm too poor at the moment.

for some reason I'm at 25 degrees c idle rising to 31 at load. And thats on a oc'd p4 2.4 at 3.2. It's air cooled on a SLK900 heatsink. I was thinking of re-seating it in case it's not on the sensor right but I like thinking I have a icy cool system.

I have a P4 2.4c running at 3.0/100FSB(stock voltage). Zalman 7000-Cu HSF. My temps are around 35C idle and 55C load.

my 3.0 1000fsb is running at 30c idle, 40c load....with hl2....most likely 45-50c load

seems like most other ppls' temps rise a lot underload. Mines low as is, and only rises 4-5c when i play games.

sorry i havent gotten around to updating my profile

You cant change the multiplier on a P4. The only way to OC is to change the FSB, which makes the CPU clock higher. If you hada stock 3.0, its impossible to do that.

mins pretty much teh same temp but only really goes up to about 43...

2000xp+ oc'de to 2600xp+

:)

therook

Motherboard: 39 Celcius
CPU: 50 Celcius

Not running any game.

if u had a stock 3.0, you would know it is possible, but thanks for telling me what my comp can do.

err i hate not being able to edit post after 15 min. anywho ill tell u the spec of my system cooling anad the current temps of cpu and mb:
CPU:40c
MB:26c
5 80mm fans (2700rpm)
and a smartfan II @ 4900rpm.

the smartr fan is great i can bearly hear it and keeps it cool considering its like 85F im my room and like 95F outside. some people say that outside temp or room temp has nothing to do with cpu/mb/case temp but ill asure u it does. at night im as low as CPU: 34c and mobo as 21c while during the hotest part of the day it gets 4-6c higher. so cal is great but sometimes its too hot.

ok guys, i still have no clue how to find out my temps. Ive got a dell dimension 8250. anyone?

first computer in my sig -
CPU: 37C/98F
MB: 20C/68F
under load, i get like 100-100F CPU temp. motherboard usually the same

janonol, you are probably cooking your PC.

I ran my old PC at 122F (i think that is 50C) when I was compiling Half Life maps for 12-24 hours. I also had a fan blowing on mine. One day I came home. The fan had burnt out and my motherboard and CPU had fried. Prior to that I experienced lockups, which I attributed to software, but in hindsight I believe they were heat stress. COmputers should not run that hot regularly. They develop unexplainable problems.

Athlon XP2800+ @ 2400Mhz (200FSB*12Multiplier)
Idle 46°C/114.8F
Full load: ~52°C/125.6F

Damn mobo gets so hot because of the passive heatsink on the chipset(thinking of getting something else there) and the pc4000 mems get pretty hot too. Otherwise, my cpu never gets warmer then 20-something under full load. Dunno about my gpu, it's water cooled as well and I have remove the shim for better contact with the core.. But I'm not really sure.
