Well today our IT group had to do some thing with the BBC (I was tempted to shout out "ITV rules!"). They were basically doing market research with teens across the country for some website they're making on finance.
Now, in this group there were quite a few chavs (Who said things like "Its different fer girls, dey 'ave to buy loads of clothes innit." "Nah but lads trackies are like £120 from Lacoste so yer wrong der." No, Im not joking.)but mostly normal people, but hardly anyone I know, meaning I didn't really voice my views, which are probably quite different to theirs. The thing that really shocked me, and made me think was they asked everyone:
"How important is money? Can you be happy without money?"
And everyone bar me and one or two others, said "No". I mean, I know the majority of the world is capitalist, centered around money and all that, but I didn't think that many people in a selection of 30 or so in the school would think you couldn't be happy without money.
Personally, my own views are quite muddled, its mixed in with careers and my own aspirations which I don't have a clue what they are, really need to find myself or something. But I know I don't want my life centered around money, don't want to be a slave to the wage.
You don't need money to happy...right?

It'd be more difficult to be happy (I think that money does buy happiness, not necessarily total happiness but some indeed), but it's perfectly possible to be happy without money.

Short of human or animal life, money is the most importent thing in the world. If anyone does not agree, you can gladly send yours to my paypal :)

Also people who say "Money cant happyness" need a good kicking.

People who say that they don't need money and money doesn't bring happiness are all poor people trying to convince themselves that they're doing alright without the being able to buy shit...

...seriously, I'm right

Its not neccesery. But extrememly usefull.

I wish I had more money..... lol

While it is technically possible to be happy without money..it does go a long way.

I'd be perfectly happy with someone I loved and no money, but I'd also be happy with someone I loved and with plenty of money.

The only reason i desire more money is because it alleviates many problems. But isnt that why everybody wants more?

What about being alone but with plenty of money?

Same here, I dont think money is importent to the point you have paid serants to wash your feet every night and stuff. If I could just have my gas bill paid for me each month, godsend!

I'd say sure money can't buy happiness cuz there's sex but people can actually buy sex with money but in terms of money, I could deal without it but i'm much happier with it :)

As we all live in capitalist societies, money is and always will be, very important.

I like buying things.. but friends > money :)

But I'd be unhappy without my nice stuff ;(

Russia is catitalist now. And I doubt that here's anyone from NK; internet is illegal there.

Okay, hypothetical situation.

$10 billion US or a friend (close but not too close).

Choose.

Without money, the world would be crazy.

Anyways, yes, money DOES buy happiness yo a certain extent. I mean, if you bought a toy when you were little, you'd be happy right? Well, if you didnt have money, youd probly be really bored and unhappy right? So, momey doesnt buy happiness, but it does tend to make you happy...

And it would be posible to be happy without money, but probably only 1/1000 people would truely be happy without money...

Plus, unless you find your own little island with plenty of food and shelter and make it your own little country, money is a requirment to survive.

Bah, What a depresing question..

Shite, I'm sitting here considering it!!! :(

Well, money isnt really anything, anyways. Because I get payed by the hour i think of say $100 as 15 hours of my time.

No contest. Money > 1 extra friend.

This may sound a bit selfish, but I'd choose the money. You can always just go out and find a person and become friends but its VERY rare to go out and find $10 Billion.

Plus I already have alot of friends :p

Honey is the root of all evil.

It also pays for bills, food, and a home... Kinda need money to live.

How about.....$500 million up front plus $1 million for every day that you live

Ooooor

Any social life. You could choose to have five very good, trusting friends, make people happy and energetic by just calling out their name, choose to be alone for a day or have the entire world love and cherish you, and die with any amount of friends by your side.

Honey does that? Wow, Britain must be a great place to live in ;)

Money is very important, without money you can not enjoy life (atleast in our society).

A bit awkward, seeing as with that money you could buy everything and anything, but then again, I'd pick the friends.

Money is important to a point.

IMO you do not need a huge house or a luxerus car to enjoy life, and I am not poor.
