How long do you want AfterMath to last you?

Its a simple question with a simple answer, but a complicated explanation. AfterMath as an expansion pack, I would expect at least 8 hours of gameplay. I mean come on, that isn't asking much. A day has 24 hours. 8 hours is less than half. And how many hours have you spent on these forums. Probably longer than playing the actual game of HL2.

So, how long would you expect from AfterMath?

Has already been said it will be a quarter of the size of hl2. Thats about the first 4 chapters I'd say. Thus I'd say about 3-5 hours, I mean it isn't even an expansion anyway.

And your wrong, Vavle didn't say that. They were talking about Lost coast. Loast coast isn't Aftermath.

What about replay value? And people won't play it all at once. Better options would be
A few days
A week
A month
Till the mods come out
Till HL3 comes out

For a worthwhile expansion, there target playing time should be about 9-12 hours. Because the community usually takes about half the time to go through the game as the developers say it would, then that would come to about 4-7 hours in length. And since I am a slower player then I'll say it'll take about 6-10 hours for me to finish the expansion based on this reasoning.

Well, I mean, even though Aftermath is only episodic content....40 minutes would be darn silly

I find it funny how just as many people have voted 24 hours + as they have 6-10 hours. I think the seniors have voted for 6-10 hours because as you may know its the most realistic figure.

would say 6-10 hours mostly because i don't rush through things. But i did finish blue shift in about 4 hours, and opposing force in about 7 hours, so any where between those times.

Episode was also mentioned in PC GAMER, and in the Steam update. Its just another episode filling in some gaps. An expansion would be say another character, before hl2 happened etc.

well officially we know it will be available through Steam...as for retail, Valve employees have been quoting as saying that they are planning to get a retail release as well.

I really hated the replayability of HL2, the non-repedative AI was scripted so I didn't get to experience the full force of the AI. Pre-Scripted Location AI would be nice to bring some comfort into Aftermath, making me play it a few more times.

A 24 hour playablity would be very nice but I doubt it, Random Weather affects? Or actualy weather?

I don't really mind how long it is, as long as Valve keeps churning out "episodic" content on a regular basis. As long as it fills in some story gaps, and isn't terribly short that's all I care about. I would like a more fleshed out expansion like Opposing Force though, with a new character, weapons, creatures, and of course a decent plot.

Aftermath isn't an expansion.. if it was it wouldn't be only 1/3 of HL2..

It's just a new game that continues after the events in HL2
Phh only a 1/3? gosh.. I could complete that game in 3 hours , but with more alyx around to kick alien ass it will be awesome
