How long does it take for you to connect...?

I just sat here for about 15 minutes trying to connect to servers. And it's drivin' me nuts.

It usually takes about 2-3 minutes to connect to a server. What sucks about this is that I finally connect but then a map change happens and the loading bar comes up again. I just did that about 4 times in-a-row. I'm on 56k if that matters any.

Yes. I'm pretty shure that your connection speed is related to the speed of your internet connection. Although several minutes is kinda ridiculous.

I'm on 64k and it takes half and minute to connect to a server.

Depends on what map and what server. I usually am connected and playing in under 10 seconds to a server in my location.

It takes about 3 minutes for me. Took me half this time when I had a geforcemx440 (now I have a R9600Pro). I guess it takes so long because tha maps with all those effects the mx440 didnt support have to load. Rest specs: PIV 2,8Ghz, 256RAM, 128kb/s connection

It's not 2 minutes all the time, only some of the time. But it does usually takes a minute. Still, I think it's rediculous.

How can you join so fast? The map has to load, right? I've got a Pentium 2,8Ghz which is I think normal, so why does it take 2,5minutes on my computer?

alot of it does depend on how much RAM you have. Loading times betwene 512 and 1 gb are very different

yeah its so quick for me when i'm in my mx440 but takes bout a minute on my laptop cause its got a dx9 card.

It is how fast your pc loads the map basically, i am on 26.4 k, and it takes 10 -30 seconds. (1 gig ram though)

I improved mine by using the -heapsize parameter. I have 1gb, and set the heapsize to 256mb which seems to work fine. PReviously I'd always miss the first few rounds on a map change, now I'm usually in for the start. Do a forum search.

I have 12Mb connection and it usually takes 15-60sec to connect to a server... my comp stats below in my sig

It takes from 1 to 3 minutes for me and I've got a 8 Mbps connection.
The loading times got a bit better after I reinstalled CS:S but after a few days it was back to normal... Ahh.. a new map, time to go put on some coffee and miss the first round

I have 256 ram and it takes me anywhere from 30 secs to 2 min at the most to get in.

Normally it takes 20 seconds for me to load up a server with a Cable Modem, & 512mb RAM.

yikes i have 1gig of RAM (might not make a difference) and a cable connection and at absolute maximum i take 30 seconds to get in.

pc is 64bit 3000, 1GB RAM, card, 6800 GeForce 128

Takes no more than 30 seconds. i'm normally first in map aswel.
