I personally think It will go gold sometime by the end of September, early October, and be out on store shelves first week of November.

Same here. I've been saying/praying mid-october ever since the fake gold announcement.

My thoughts exactly.

I think next week is a bit too soon for a gold anouncement. Even if Vivendi has dozens of testers, it's a big game and it has to be tested on a variety of hardware and with lots of different settings. I assume the final testing on the RC would take at least two weeks.

Still, I would be very pleased with an early november release. It's not that far off now. :D
 
I hope late october release. Because then i have my new pc, and i still have some weeks to play. Because in november im joining the dutch army, and i wont have much time to play anymore...

Wait, so Counter-strike source is included the RC? Because counter strike source IS a part of half-life 2... Has the beta ended?
On topic, I voted a week for gold. Because they want the game to be shipped. Or they may hold it until November, greedy little bastards.

Next week I think.

I am crossing my fingers for extensive playtesting over the weekend and a declaration of its suitability for Gold on monday.
*crosses fingers for self, VALVe and all the others hoping for the best case*
 
If VU holds HL2 back, even after its clearly approved, I will only use steam, and that against my will, because that is just a bad business decision, and it will anger millions of fans, for the sake of having some freeking old lady buy the damn game for her grandchild, wow look boys a 1% increase in sales, but wait, we lost 50% because we delay the game. Now that would just be sad.

too long, LLL leasure suit larry just went gold and it will only be available october..

I dont quite know how the process works (perhaps games have priority over eachother when it comes to gold) but if its like LLL, then we have quite a wait ahead of us regardless....

then again who says this rc will be accepted as gold by VU?

one would think pple would have learned their lesson in being too optimistic.. but i guess not :rolleyes: :p

i voted "next month" because raising my optimism would be setting myself up for perhaps a disappointment which i do not want.

Yeah some peeps just cant let go and be realistic or their just unpatient kids Ive learned my lesson tho....I didnt think we would even here a gold till early november but im gonna even be a little optimistic myself now (since a rc was actually and finally submitted yesterday) and say that we will be golden next month not in november.

WoW things actually seem to be moving foward this time.....no joke! :cheers:

i am not disappointed in pple being optimistic.. heck i don't care if thats how pple feel... i was lamenting the fact that every time Valve has not met pples' expectations here we get angry "hate Valve" threads but as soon as some news trickles out.. its back to good ol' optimism.

don't get me wrong here.. theres nothing wrong with optimism.. but "next week" optimism? see my point? better to be cautiously optimistic in the event that Valve cannot/does not make whatever expectations pple have.. be it "next week" or "next year"

but whatever.. don't me hold anyone's optimism back.. :p
 
Im so jealous...somewhere, a vilvendini employee is playing HL2 RIGHT NOW.....he better be enjoying it!
 
on a scale of 1 to 10, the chances of it being out by september are are a 2, but thats a number i like working with

This is not valve. Vivendi is not valve.
They are working their buts off (no sleep or social life whatsoever) to get it out the door because they want to ship it FAST.
Minor bugs = steam
