Ah, that makes more sense. I really don't see the point of playing the game just to be the first person to beat it.
I see we have very different oppinions on how to play games though. While I don't bask the first time (I use that word too much) I do kill everyone (including damaging myself, if it's a noncombat situation (testing to see if walking into flames'll hurt me, etc.)) the first time around. That'll be the one thing that'll really make the game take awhile for me; the first time I played HL1, I immediately jumped to my death after the train ride, and after I got the crowbar I killed the first security guard. I basically would quick-save, kill an NPC/myself, and then quick-load with every person I met.
Personally, I just do whatever I find fun at the time, but that usually involves killing a lot of NPCs (regardless of whether it's the first time around or not).
