I dont remember how long it took me the first time, but it was extreemly long. The last time I played it through about a month ago it took me less than 10 hours, didnt really pay attention to the time, but as short as it was (only because i knew what to do) I could still rcognize the massiveness and awsomeness of the game. HL2? we'll just have to wait and see i guess.

Well for one HL2 isn't released yet so we have no idea how many hours of gameplay HL2 will offer.

HL1 SP will give atleast 24-48 hours of gameplay. While multiplayer (with mods) will give a ton more.

Even more if you decide to become a coder, mapper, moddeler, texturer, sound artist etc

Infinite...atleast for me.

I still develop maps for CS, NS, and TS. Still do a lot of entity coding for people. Coding custom spawn managers for maps like 1337skeet, skeeball...etc.

Good times for HL1...good times...

I still get wooped in DOD...:-(

The first was about 30-40 with me if you took out all the times I had to replay it because my computer sucked, that is one play thru, if you play it on all the skills it is longer, and HL2 is supposed to be comparable I think.

l337skee7....what a crazy map! A little buggy on each side though...like if you're a CT it gets all weird b4 u get an AWP

Oh yeah. forgot about multiplayer...

Real gameplay hours is Every day for the rest of your life... at least its been pretty close to that for DoD and me :)

not to get off-topic...but the author of 1337sk33t really needs to figure out some way to fix the exploit where ppl go on the top of the skeeter machine.

HL2 has about 36 hours of play I think. That's what they said.

I'm the whooper, trust me :)

Man, HL took me a month to complete , I tell you, they don't do games like that anymore, now I find myself finishing games in 2 days, approx: 6 hours.

I baught call of duty friday and I finished it saturday night, when I see the credits part I seriously thaugt it was joke, comon, the game is good yes, but 6 hours game play?

Splinter cell was also a quick game, so why the hell pay 50 USD for 6 hours of fun?( depending on the game)
All my hope is on HL2.

I suspect that your skills as a gamer have increased since you played Half Life as well. But yes, games are getting shorter.

If you want a recent long game, try Far Cry. That took me about 2 weeks to finish (wasn't playing it obsessively, though). But IMO Far Cry was pretty lame, in terms of story, and it ended up just being the same thing over and over again (little enemy variation and the levels were all mostly the same thing).

call of duty sucked... it was just like any other single player. Very unrealistic I might add.

Call of Duty was GREAT. Very very immersive game. I was glued to my chair until I beat it. The sound effects really helped to bring it to life. Some people hate it though. Some people like it.

i think halflife had more like 40 hours... depends on level...or if you stuck or somthing..

pretty sure i read one of the valve dudes saying hl2 would be twice the size of the first one.

Call of Duty sucked ass. It had nice presentation (the demos were fantastic at ceating atnosphere),as well as good graphics and sound design, but the gameplay was bland and sadly almost identical to every other WW2 FPS ever created. It played like shit and was boring as hell, I'm appalled that respected gaming sites like gamespot scored it so highly when it failed in every department besides production value.

Total garbage.

I loved Call of Duty, both single player and multiplayer. I thought it was a very well done game.

But anyway I see peole saying that Hl1 had 30 to 40 hours of gameplay? Is that perhaps including the expansions too or something? Because I think I beat it in about 6 or 7 hours. The last time I played it I took about 5 I think.

Someone completed hl1 in 1 hour, so you could say that was the time it took.

half life 2 will take more then 40 hrs becuase that person knew what to do becuase he created the game...Gabe's dad beat it in 60hr becuase he didnt know how to pass all the parts
