I am just wondering how many people are going the GDC 2004 to see HL2 and learn how to mod it? I wish I was, but i am too young to go anywhere in California alone. If any of you are can i request something? Please come back with all of the information possible so all of us mod makers who weren't fortunate enough to go know some stuff. Thanks!

love to go but how many people are acctually gunan fly to see this

Hopefully someone here lives right next to it...

Well if they let me travel to california in the hold of a plane for a reduced rate then i'll consider it.

i live 50 miles away, but i know nothing of modding. except how to own ;)

Oh yea - I want to fly out to see a presentation on how to mod a videogame that is not coming out until Fall 2004 - supposedly...

I got better things in my life to waste money on. Call me when HL2 is released - when we have something tangible to actually discuss.

after all the delays its gunna be kinda hard to trust this 'summer' release

24 people not going?! We have the largest HL2 community around. Someone has to be going.

"No, I am not! 28 100.00%" :O

I want to go of course, but can't for obvious reasons. Like not living in america.

I live in California! Show me some informations plees

I'm only taking a guess it's in CA. Almost all gaming things are.

Well, it's at San Jose. If anything I will pay $150 for an Expo Pass.

Some of you may be interested in this part:

Children At The Show
Due to safety concerns, no one under the age of 18 (including infants in strollers) will be permitted on the show floor at any time during the Game Developers Conference.

It's not like E3.

I was going to go (I kept getting invites in the mail) but then I noticed the price, and the age restriction :/

It doesn't matter tbh, the notes and everything are always posted afterwards.

Seeing that it is very very expensive, im guessing there will be no videos taken at these events, how would they make their money if videos are allowed to be taken and people can download them for free?

Wow, they are seriously dicouraging modders and indies. I am an indie sort of.

yup its in San Jose california :hmph: like a 2 day flight (or more) from here lol. :dozey:

I'm the only one thinking about it? @.@

Well I'd be the only one cracy enough to fly from the east coast to see a 1 hour demo.

Then again, I AM serious about games, and I AM serious about modding.

You're the only one with money. :D

If you're under 18 I have doubts that you'll ever make a serious mod anyway.

Weren't Gooseman and co under 18 when they created Counter-Strike?

That is very ignorant and biased. I am 13 and I am making a serious mod.

I'm gonna buy the student pass and count on the possibility that one of the event directors will find me attractive @.@

E3 is TECHNICLY 18 and older only, then again, i have a picture of myself and my 15 year old brother standing right in front of it, and about 30 pictures after that of us on the show floor. \

I live in SoCal, and GDC happens to be over my spring break, so i migh make the four hour drive up to go see it. College students get in for only $15 with student ID (notice HS student ID's won't get you in.) If i go, i'll make sure to take tons of pics and tease all of you though.
(btw: i got tickets to e3 AGAIN this year, living in SoCal owns...)

Are you yourself making it, or are you part of a team? Because, you'll need a good understanding of C++, and I see you're starting to learn it (as am I, I bought a C++ book, working on it as we speak)
Anyway, what mod is it, and what's your role? just curious

I am getting the best book possible C++ Primer. This is being made by me only. No one wants to jump on. ;(

Ah, lol, what's it gonna be?
I'm working through C++ For Dummies (yep, I'm a dummy :))
Just now got to the chapter on arrays.. a little under a fourth of the way through the book

It's a mod about overthrowing Soviet Russia and exposing the dicator like he really is(a tyrant). It will be stealth action. More info will be released in the coming days.
