If you're under 18 I have doubts that you'll ever make a serious mod anyway.

Yes people, when you turn 18, you suddenly receive a large wisdom and intelligence infusion, allowing you to suddenly do revolutionary stuff you couldn't even think of before! Complicated, adult-only stuff, like mod building!
Hah, don't tell me you thought you could build mods below 18, lol! Obviously you can only acquire any kind of modding skill when you're 18 or older.

... Yes, that featured a healthy amount of sarcasm. Btw, I'm 17, not that it matters, next year that 'below 18 = no serious modding' will be just as ridiculous.

thats the hottness, rayman,

reminds me of splintercell.
That's what I was aiming for. With HL2's graphics and physics, it should surpass SC if all goes well.

Untill your about 17-18 you will find it very difficult to understand object orientated programming, there is research to support this. It doesn't mean you won't be able to mod HL2, but you won't be able to make a complex one.

I would recomend trying to script for UT2003 before entering yourself for a HL2 mod. No offense but your underestimateing the difference in dificulty between makeing a command line utillity to useing the HL2 SDK. I'm not trying to put you off, I'm just saying don't jump in the deep end. Still there's plenty of time before HL2 is released (proberly) maybe you can learn OOP, data manipulation and a lot of other programming concepts.

Im really thinking about going....but i dont think i have any way to. If i'm actually able to get up there I'll but the guys here at hl2.net to put me on as a jurnolist for hl2.net.....so I get in for...how ever much they get in for.

Im not sure how far away I am from there anyway....mabie a days drive.

I'm certainly not going... but I am looking forward to modding... I have the perfect concept (for me) for my own little singleplayer mod... it's going to be sweet! :)

Argh... I can manage to get enough money and I could walk to the place, but there's that ridiculous age limit... I'm just a little too young. And I'm am sure there are quite a few younger kids who are perfectly capable of making amazing mods, there are some very bright ones out there. When I was a lot younger, I knew this kid who was absolutely brilliant. By fourth grade he was taking a special class for higher math that many adults could barely grasp.

I am turning 18 the day before the confrence. Lots of money to get a ticket though. Pluss I would feel like a huge wanker if I went, seeing as I don't know much modding stuff. and I don't live in cali.
