Cool. Hey, I think I see a 500 pound man drowning over there. Best of luck!

(It's a Pool Lifeguard qualification not beach lifeguarding :E Rather cheaper and easier)

i passed it may 2005

NPLQ Lifeguard certificate.
Heartstart Certificate
Communications Certificate
Food and Hygiene Certificate
Duke Of Edinburgh award
Food and Hygiene Certificate

i have 2 friends that are certified, and 2 more that are training

I'm not a lifeguard, but I've heard that the UK lifeguarding training is piss easy compared to NLS in Canada/US (I think it's American). I've looked into it a bit. If you started from nothing, it would probably take atleast a year or so to get certified with your NLS

Why would I want something like this? isn't it just easier to let someone else save the drowning fat man?

I'm a life guard here. Have Been for two years and have yet to have to save anyone. Mostly I just yell at kids and pick up trash.

thats pretty much what i did., lol

I got my CPR certification a while back (expired now), but my GF was a lifeguard, she quit since school started.

Sounds good to me.

It allows you to get a job in a pool where you'll be paid quite a lot for not really doing much, and you generally won't have to work evenings either.

I went for mine about a month back...the woman asked me to leave as i couldn't swim as good as the criteria stated :(.

lol thanks ppl, i was sitting alone wondering how to make easy money,
and youve solved it, i can do 1 length underwater without using arms in dolphin stroke (legs and back only). tis v easy. maybe ill try and do 2 lengths,

surley i can qualify as lifegaurd? i know basic revival procedure aswell ( as in give them oxygen and make sure you keep the heart beating. )
i hadnt thought about saving lives until now (or getting payed for looking at babes in swimsuits) dammit thats my job!

Now i know how to get the money for my comp upgrades :) thx guys/gals

and save lives

You need to be able to swim 20 metres to a conscious casualy, 20 metres towing them back, all in 65 seconds. Then you need to swim 20 metres to an unconscious casualty and tow them 10m back in 45 seconds directly afterwards.
