im pessismistic, BTW. i dont know i got a feeling they'll release another CS: S update with a map and say they wanted to use that bandwidth for the CS: S update instead of the HL2 preload and push it back another 3 - 7 days. or Maybe we will get HL2 pre-load tomorow, then soon after a gold announcement, we'll see.

They could delay it, there in no real rush to give it to us since they're still working on HL2, be it small fixes or something. Something tells me they're more interested in fixing Source Bugs then releasing content we probably won't be able to play for another month *sniff* D:

Well, thing is, at the moment, patches to the CS:S beta *are* more important than the HL2 preload. The sooner bugs are ironed out of the Source engine, the sooner HL2 goes gold and we can play it.

Mm, right now I wouldn't be suprised. CS:S is somewhat less than stable or without its problems some of which are showtoppers (weren't they supposed to be going bug free a couple of weeks ago?)

Whatever, it's plainly just not 'done' yet, although it's coming along nicely, the last patch meant it starts what, 4 out of 10 times or so on my machine without a system hang or crash. Preloading is cool n' all but I can't help feeling that a decent gold candidate is more than a week or two away.

Why does everyone think a delay of the hl2 preload is a bad thing?
Its only some game files being released early to reduce bandwidth congestion theres no real rush to get them and most people are buying hl2 in shops anyway.

Also if it means they are getting a CS:S update out thats even better news as it means CS:s is getting closer to being complete, which is one thing holding back HL2 release.

Just getting the preload would make fans feel better ;] I mean at least people know they are finally doing 'visible' progress.

Getting the PL open also forces Valve to hurry up because people will get VERY annoyed if Valve just sends a 1-2 gig cache for everyone and not doing anything with it for a month or two. (though Valve slacking with that too wouldn't be a surprise anymore hoho )

also, yeah it's not coming tonight ;]
