I've never bought a game the first day it's released, how may players do you think will be playing on 30th Sept. (First few hours of the Morning)??

I'm glad I've finnished school and have no job :D

You mean as in online? I think a lot of people will want to go through singleplayer first.

you have to realise ....this is a worldwide release.......

Im guesing no less than 500 within two hours of it being released on steam.

Well if it ships to UK at the same date as US, we should be able to get it 5 hours earlier(I think, I get confused when it comes down to timezones). I might pop on to multiplayer and pwn some n00bs :D

and if its in the US that means its in canada too...SCORE!

der um...HL and its packs have sold 8 million copies...there'll be at least 20,000 people on by the end of the first day.

You guys do realise that the U.S. will be the last to have it in stores because of the stupid timezones. I know I'll finish singleplayer before trying multiplayer. Which means I have to ban myself from any info on multiplayer before finishing singleplayer. DAMN IT:x

Valve is in the U.S.

Doesn't mean shit, Sept. 30th happens in the U.K. before it does in the U.S.

It's really up to the retailer as to when it's released. I bought the N64 a few days before it's scheduled release from an Electronics Boutique store. It's not like they're going to have a bunch of HL2 boxes dropped off at the stores on Sept. 29th midnight.

Well if worldwide release does happen then it must be an advantage being in NZ(timezones and all that).I will probably have a quick look at multi, but I can see singleplayer having all my attention.

Yes it does mean "shit", If its sept. 30 in UK first and its not in US where VALVe is located then they of course won't ship there first.

Ok, this is how it works. The game gets shipped to the retailers anywhere from a few days to a week before the game is actually put on shelves. Therefor the game is in the retailer's hands before Sept. 30th. At this point it is really up to the retailers as to when they want to release the game, not up to Valve. So you can buy the game in Russia when it's Sept. 30th in Russia, NOT in the U.S. Like I said before I bought an N64 a few days before the scheduled release because the retailer decided to start selling them a few days early.

Steam is a completely different subject. Yes the game will be released on Sept. 30th U.S. time over steam but that has nothing to do with it hitting shelves in a different part of the country before it does in the U.S.

someone needs a nap

I really doubt you're gonna be buying the game at 12 midnight on September 30th... Gotta wait till stores open (and I sincerely hope no one camps their local computer store to get HL2 first. That'd be pathetic). If you buy the game through Steam, you'll have to wait until september 30th, U.S. time.

So, I don't really see how anyone is going to be buying the game first in a way that it really matters.

your damn right.....i have a cold and i feel like shit.....just took some sudafed so i should be out in an hour.

Technically:

I don't think Valve is shipping based on the International date line...

They'll ship on Sept. 30 in Pacific Western USA Time...because they're based in Washington...

so I would expect the British and the rest of the world to get the product second...the only place that gets this electronic stuff early is Japan...because they create most of it...

Realistically, you can walk in early and get it...

I might pop on to multiplayer and pwn some n00bs

hehe... you'll BE a n00b at that time ;)

But anyway... who cares how many players will be there on Sept 30th... the only thing that counts is, who will be the FIRST? (apart from Valve employees)

I wonder if Valve could theoretically determine who's the 1st to log on any HL2 server and send a prize to him/her ;)

<100 on multiplayer, everybody will play the singleplayer :)

100, 500 maybe... don’t know really because I’m going to play the sp first.
Don’t want to discover all the weapons... :)

Ehm... When movies have worldwide releases, they are legally released 00:01 local time, therefore in Asia and Europe before in the US. Why would that be different for a game?

If the pre-orders arrives at 30th of september, I'm guessing above a million at least playing it.

The fun thing about it that you'll be a newbie too...

Get experienced first in the Single mod then play for the next five years the Multi mod.........

heh i think all will be noobs at that moment :p

^^ you know it's still an fps: there will be no newbies trust me.

you all chat rubbish.

a) stop saying "trust me". course there will be newbies just like there is today on half-life1. people will not be good at something instantly, well, not everyone anyway.

b) for all you idiots that think you know best, you don't. The game will be shipped before the 30th. the game will then be kept in stores for up to a week before the release. sometimes, and i mean VERY rarely the game won't come in until the day before (sometimes even the evening), but this is what will happen EVERYWHERE ... including the UK. As a result, yes, the UK people will technically be playing it early. However, its only a few hours early, and at the end of the day, when Americans are dreaming of eating junk food, why should a single game get in their way?

I completely agree with you. Except for that last part about Americans not letting a little game get in the way of their junk food. Although that is statistically true for a lot of Americans, that's no reason to bash on them. ;)

I gotta admit, i don't give a shit if the game ships 1st in the us, australia or ****ing rwanda...just as long as it ships on the 30th.

its just a couple of hours anyways, no big dealo :)

as soon as its out,i'll be uploading it to my clanserver, then i'll be working on getting to know the maps and weapons, can't wait to see what MP has in store for us.

Hey man, do you have someone called Chi in your UGC clan that plays SWG? We've someone called -UGC-Chi in our PA!

Really funny to see all thsoe americans here, screaming: We get it first, valve is in our country!!!!! WE own you all because we can throw bombs on your heads!

And everytime i think not all americans are like that, some act makes me think they are..

Yup kill me, i'm a terrorist beware statue of liberty ;)

Half-Life2 is going to contain Ricochet 2 instead of a multi-player... :D
