how many pull-up's can you do?

I normally do wide grip chin ups where you arms are spread out, of which i can do about 15 or more.

Normal pull ups are crap, i can prob do 40 odd? i don't know, havn't done them for ages.

Used to be able to do loads, but now I'm out of shape, about 5 probably.

No worries, I just won a month's free gym!

I used to be able to do many. Although I weighed less then than I do now. Maybe I should try to do some.

meh

real question is, how many one handed pullups can you do.

im beginning to reel with envy. okay, how long do you ppl take to run 2.4 km as well added in. mine clocks at 10mins at 15s

I do just a little over an eight minute mile, so probably around the same :\

For everyone that are doing chins as part of a weight lifting routine:
Are you trying to lose fat or get muscle? Doing more than 20 reps is a waste of time if you're doing the latter.

I use an old backpack and throw 45 lbs in there, then do sets of 10, wide and narrow grips, with palms facing toward and away from me.

I've been considering the validity of this for awhile now. Even considered doing it. However, my willpower for working out is not very high at all.

The only true thing visible in my eyes is that you look sexier if you shave your whole body.

A real test of endurance is the flexed arm hang. It is freaking BRUTAL. My best is 1:47 (minute:seconds). They get ridiculously hard.

The only thing involved is holding yourself like in a pull-up, with your chin over the bar, except you just stay with your chin over the bar, and don't move. So hard..

Yes. A bunch of people have been misunderstanding this, thinking that "pull-up" means "sit-up", of which I did 300 in a row when I was 16.

As for pullups, I think I can manage 20 or so, same with pushups. Situps, though, are where I truly shine, I can do hundreds at a time. I literally haven't worked out for four years though, so I don't understand how this is possible.

Hahaha, yeah, same here. I never got how people found situps hard

I once managed 200, with my belly literally burning after it. On an average workout, 100 i go for.

I think you are mistaken good sir. Look up pull-up on wikipedia.

I know the man that has the record for one finger chinups. He did 8 or 9 I think. He's 40 now and can still climb harder than most 20 year olds.

Probably 5 in middle school...one now. Maybe 10+ if I tried (I tend not to...)

Actually what I did in middle school was imagine what it would be like if the only way I could save myself from falling into a pit of lava was to do a pull up...it helped. And I also thought that it should be so much easier than I was making it out to be...just think muscle ;)

It's BS. The article writer was at one point 190 lbs, lost that weight before he did the "experiment". One thing you should know is that the human body has what's called "muscle memory", so when you lose it, it's easy as cake to get it back once you work at it. Both of the "subjects" of the colorado experiment were also regaining lost muscle mass.

Shit i thought it meant sit-up, lol 200 pull-ups, thats mental.

Not really tried pull-ups so cant say, wont be many though, im well toned all over but slim so my upper body stength aint too good, i can manage around 40-50 push-ups back when i was active in karate, not sure how many i could do now, haven't excerised in a while. I own in sit-ups and leg strength though xD

The most sit ups I've ever done were 300, changing the style every 100, so we did 100 regular situps, then picked our legs up off the ground, did another 100 situps, elbows to knees, then alternating right elbow left knee, left elbow right knee (works obliques), then 1 minute of just holding our legs off the ground for a minute straight.

Oh yeah, that was an exellent excercise, we had to hold a legs wide apart and straight, still keeping six itches off the ground, and start small circles with them, then back to center, wait a bit, back out again etc. It was hilarious hearing everyone start to moan because of the pain lool, sounded like everyone had the runs.

There was one instructor who took it to the next level though, after doing your basic minute, without putting our feet down, we had to do ten leg raises, before doing another minute, it was apart of a advanced training course, and everyone was rolled in a ball in pain after it lol.

20 front pull up wide
8 back pull ups wide
23 keel pull up

yep

Here's a fun one:
Do the above, except while holding your torso off the ground as well, as high as you can. While doing circles with your legs, do reverse crunches, lowering yourself just a tad then pulling yourself back up.

My group started laughing while doing it, it was either that or screaming in agony :p

probably about 5 regular grip (palms away), same with suphinated grip, with hammer grip I can do about 8 though

then again I weigh about 215, once I lose some weight that should go up, now the question is who can do weighted pullups?

pull ups? generally I don't do those but I would say at least 10. I prefer passive training, just weight yourself down and go about your normal activities. I get about an hour of leg work in on any given day. also, cock push ups.

I do basketball and we often do some workouts, so I can do about 35 - 40.

ok, all this is a sign for me. i need to train. 10 pfftt.. 20 here i come..

haha, cock pushup, it took me awhile to realize that it meant "lousy" pushup..rather than LITERALLY cock pushup..

Ehm, welcome to HL2.net, where cock pushup LITERALLY means cock pushup.
