How much will be scary?

HL had its scary moments im sure they will be back like headcrabs in tunnels and your flashlight is just about to go out *puf*.

Even though I haven't beaten HL (don't flame please), I found the marines more scary than Xen aliens. Seriously. Zombies were easy to kill, but marines were really hard when you first meet them. Plus their "radio" voices make them sound f*cked up. ;(

WELL i dunno if your allowed to mention here but if not, just delete my post....i won't spoil stuff

going from the leak, some of the monsters ...my god...they HONESTLY sent shivers down my spine unlike any other monsters from other games...there are some quite genuinley tense moments aswell....believe me, the leak had me quite on edge like no other

I think he is correct.. :monkee:

The Ravenholm sequence is the scariest i believe...

I dont think doom 3 was scary at all but there you go

I loved Doom3, it was scary to me. Playing with headphones, at night, alone in the dark room... and no, it wasn't scary because of monsters jumping out at you - those were momentary scares. It was the overall atmopshere of levels. In the Delta Labs levels, I was constantly nervous, even without anyone to kill.

Now, HL2 won't probably be as scary because it sets different goals from Doom3. The goal in HL2 isn't to scare you, but Ravenholm and graveyard are going to be creepy for sure. Besides... the zombie screaming on fire sound is some of the best creepy sounds I have ever heard, second only to some background sounds in Doom3 that REALLY hit something for me.

Somepeople said that the original HL was a bit scary. I didn't blink an eye. In fact, no game really scares me, EXCEPT if there are spider like things, (eg facehuggers, aka AVP and trites, aka DOOM3). If there are spider things then my heart races and I sweat and jump at someone coming into the room and I simply have to stop playing.
As there are no spider things in HL (I really do hope), then I have nothing to fear about being scared. I do hope there are 'spooky' bits to the game, as I love that. Judging by the E3 videos, I think there will be this certain spooky element (and horror) in the game somewhere (ravenholm, that bit with gregory).....
I find that I never really replay games with spiders (except Blood), so I hope there are none in HL2!

the ant lions are spider-ish. and damn dude, i jumped off my ass many times when i first played HL1. I mean ,i guess it was never truly scary, but it sure made me jump.

hmm. in HL the first time I played through the game, headcrabs sure had the shit scared out of me. there was just no predicting when a headcrab would jump at you from a dark corner and make it's high pitched slashing noise.

i hope that headcrabs will surprize me again in HL2, though i'm not 13 anymore :)

Exactly the same. but i do hope there will be many 13 year old players to enjoy this experience, just as i did HL1. Not sometyhing to be missed.

I only played the demo of Doom3, when I went into the bathroom again and the fire and blood in the mirror...I never screamed so loud in my life!, But that was only cause I didn't see it coming...

Half Life wasn't scary, I just had some surprizing thing, Like Headcrabs when you didn't expect them.

Half Life 2, I so hope the will creep me out...though I will be playing it at 7am, so I don't expect to get scared...

I won't care if its spooky...I think thats kind of a cool effect...Little kids like 8-10 would like freak out just seeing the PICTURE of these aliens...

I have a fear of big things in the water too. Like if we were in the water and a huge blue whale or something (like a submarine, oh scary dreams about submarines!!!!) came past.

I was playing San Andreas last night, swiming in the docks when this huge turtle thing came out of no where. I screamed like a little girl. Got laughed out of the room.

Oh the shame.

No shit?? I thought i was alone.. big things in the water freak me out too! I dont know why though.... guess cuz its so big. Open spaces freak me out too.. i guess it kinda ties in to each other..

Nah, I have looked at the Ant lions, its dosn't do anything to me :) I think its all to do with the number of legs and how they move.. :)

I can't play Doom3 more than about 20 minutes straight before having to stop. It just stresses the hell out of me for some reason. I'm a wuss. :(
