Hey guys,
I always heard about HL2 being stressful to the CPU but paid no mind. Yesterday however I was playing Anticitizen One when suddenly my on board speaker started giving out an alert signal. I was scared, unplugged and waited. Then I turned on the comp a while later and everything was okay.
Today I worked a few hours on the comp before giving myself the pleasure of the game. Mind I already had played two games and had the comp running for video capturing and cutting. I checked the temp and rest of the status, all was alright.
The moment I loaded the save game the alert started again. I was worried again, quit HL2 and went into my status console (I have an ABIT mobo with the uGuru stuff), everything was alright.
To cut it short from here: Halflife2 seems to send a wrong error to some component which makes the mobo believe it has problems. Good job Valve, seems you are really close to the hardware. To play HL2 I gotta use headphones (good thing is I use a 5.1 headset) b/c the warning sound is always there until I quit HL2.
I think it's kinda funny, it's not stressful but makes my mobo believe it is.
