How to be an anime fan (a guide)

it just bothers me to see "action scenes" in animes as nothing but a string of still frames with crazy backgrounds, and then after the action, you see EXTREMELY slow-moving smoke or bubbles or something.

however, in american cartoons, the action is usually short, more realistic, but less exciting. american animators use alot of motion blur to try and make action look quicker without having to draw more frames. However, japanese animators meticulously draw out every single frame with alot of detail, and thus their frame rate suffers.

I'd really like some examples from both sides, that doesn't sound like it one bit to me.
 
What I'd like to know is what you people have watched that makes you hate it so? and if you havn't watched any Anime at all, and like saying bad things about it you can go bash yourself over the head with a 2x4.

Series like "Licensed By Royalty", "Neon Genesis Evangilion", "Hellsing", "Ghost In The Shell", "Infinite Ryvius", "Serial Experiments Lain", "Last Exile", "Witch Hunter Robin", "RahXephon", "Fruit Basket", "Noir", "Narue no Sekai" and many others can change you mind.
 
To be an anime fan, you must also respect and love terrible animation. They use like 15 pictures and a couple moving mouths to make an episode.

I dont watch action animes too much, im a big sucker for love/sad and Serial Experiments Lain animes :)

Lain is low budget with terrible "frame rate", but the idea behind it is awesome. Some say its a piece of art because of the drawing style, eventhough the animation is bad. So the animation isnt everything. Thats what people first complain about when they see anime. Its the inside that matters ;)
 
I read a few of these posts and decided I need to tell you how to REALLY be an anime fan, as I have seen them with my own eyes, in my own schools. It is frightening, and stupid.

1.) You must be hideously ugly. Make sure to culture the necessary bacteriae so you can grow acne at a moments notice in case you get too low. Also, make your body and head disproportionate.

2.) Talk abnormally. Too high, too low, whatever.

3.) Wear t-shirts that say things like: 1 Kill j00, or sup f3wl? Or perhaps even Kung Foo.

4.) Keep action figures of anime characters on your keychain and bring them into health class and when it comes time to make the presentation on the object that you most relate to yourself, tell the class how you and Vash are similar because "you don't take shit from anyone, and you're really cool."

5.) Scratch yourself and smell your hand after.

6.) Laugh like a ****ing complete asshole.

7.) Watch anime, and try to convert other people.

8.) Be fearless and don't ever deny that you watch anime.


And that about sums it up!

Yeah well most modern cartoons are pretty poor but if you put it in proportion to all tv its not too bad :P. There are the simpsons, there used to be Tom and Jerry and many other cartoons that I cant seem to remember for some reason. I dont think ive watched a cartoon in months now and I only watch tv to watch the news/friday night stuff and when i want to sit down on the sofa. Its poor quality and well pc activites> TV .
 
Hmmm, I've watched a bit of Ghost In the Shell, and I didn't really like it.

And Ben.. Physics tomorrow :O
 
AWESOME!!! Channel 4 is screening every episode of Ren & Stimpy ever made, and the new series from the creators called Ripping Friends... dunno what to expect from that but I fecking love R&S.

Vash-a thah Stampeeed-o!

Trigun is a fun one. Western scifi romp with a plenty of childish humor. Some nice themes, and some classic moments. Memorable characters, some good symbolism. The only series I still happen to have on my E:\. It's somewheres in there... search... :P

If you like love/sad animes check out Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien. That's a sad love story.
 
The reason i hate anime movie's/cartoons is because the majority of them are very depressing and always, ALWAYS have some lame gratuitous sex/nude scene, and its a f*cking cartoon.

I remember my friend told me to watch this "really cool" anime called "Ninja Scroll". So he gave it to me and i started watching it up until some rock monster guy tries to rape some ninja girl and i immediately thought "Who the **** has enough time to draw scenes like this".

I've seen Akira too, and thats crap.

Not that I actually have a list, but... you get the point. :D

Yea, it's based off a hentai but isn't a hentai show. It did have a couple "H" scenes in it.

There's plenty good, clean series based on H games out there. Usually the game has a decent enough story too, but this is just what I've heard :)

Sadly downloading 1GB+ H game isos is not on my dial up priority list.

My research says other things ;)

Edit: Just for the fun of it: I have 3 Gb packed hentai games atm, I need a new disk and a week before i upgrade to 8Mbit... then.... bwhahaha
