My School uses smart filter.

How could I get past it? Any Ideas, I can use firefox at school.

Turning the proxy off works for some filters.

I can change the proxy, but if I click - "Connect to the internet directly" it doesn't work.

Or going through another proxy. Do a google search for proxies.

Also try ctrl+alt+delete and go to processes and kill explorer. Then click new task and re start explorer. This will often reset the scripts/disable security software.

I've tried proxies but you they get blocked too. If you can see if you can get to the internet rather from the intranet that the school uses =/

I'll remind you that my current job is actually as a Tech Support guy, so all methods you post will be logged and put into the filtering system at my workplace, and therefore spread to the majority of English filtering companies.

Pwned.

I'd also probably get it put on my appraisal, which would put me a step closer to that payrise.

I do this all of the time at my school.

Go to Google and "translate" the whole page under Language Tools from, like, Chinese to English. It won't actually translate anything and the filter probably won't pick it up unless it has Google blocked (why?). Most everything works: links, flashes and such but not some pictures and most imbedded video.

Ours uses websense. We used to use proxies to get around (not browser based anonymous browsing, because websense blocks "Proxy Avoidance" category)

Tools- internet options- connections- lan settings

Unfortunately, word spread to the less tech savvy kids and they learned how to do it too- leaving it on ALL The time rather than putting in a new proxy IP everytime they log on and erasing as they log off. As you know, soon these IPs didnt work, and they couldnt use IE at all. Tech people came in, saw why it wasn't working, and disabled the lan settings tab from being accessed by non admins.

If your school still has it open and accessable to students, you should be able to simply find stable IP's and use them- but be sure to take them off every time you log off.

edit: my school also has web based translation services, 'wayback machine', etc etc etc blocked. Along with "uncategorized websites" so there is no using IP as URL either. So we're stuck with no ways to get around that are worth taking the time doing for 40 minutes of browsing time.

My school actually has Google blocked :|
Sad, isn't it?

i use v3h.net at college as they block imageshack and photobucket

If you can boot up in safe mode. None of the software crap will boot up and hence no blocking anything. Or use a different method to boot in safe mode.

If your school has a filtering server then you will need to use a proxy, a different browser which you can bring on a flash drive.

Or use a fram of another site. Such as google pictures. Learn to use that and you can view any site you want since google is not blocked.

For instance.

To go to the site www.omg.com because I lack anything more creative do this.

http://images.google.com/imgres?img...2&prev=/images?q=porn&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&sa=G

I went to google images typed porn and clicked any image that came up and used that to go from there. Where it says imgrefurl= is where you put the site you wanna go to.

Doesn't work Glirk, you can't use Google Cache, they have the caches blocked for the content that's blocked too. How I don't know.

Two years ago all of the above methods worked but websense has gotten hella good at what it does (unfortunately for me)

Google proxy get's round most at my college

www.google.com/gwt/n?u=URL

And it'll load up any page. Trouble is you can't see backgrounds and pages are a bit messed u, but you can see the content. Doesn't work for downloads or videos. But it's good for normal sites mostly.

its not a battle you can win - whatever tips or secrets are revealed here, newer and better ones will be found
currently with current network restrictions, a simple-ish script that tricks the host server into believing that you have admin status is my preferred way of circumnavigating one of the servers at my college, the other 4 seem to have script blocking :(
