How to coordinate attacks on a public server

So the other day I had those rare ingredients on a public server that make for a successful capture of a point: three medics all with full ubercharge, enough offensive classes to work with, and everyone had a mic and was using it. We were on Dustbowl (Stage 1, point B), and were charged up in the gated tunnel on the upper left. All we had to do was work together and we'd easily overwhelm whatever they had on the point.

So I'd ask, "Hey, is everyone ready? Do the medics have a patient? How do you want to split the attack..." and I found it bizarrely difficult to get everyone on the same page without basically issuing commands (which may be a little rude on a public server).

What have you found to be the best way to coordinate attacks like this?

Pretty much. Helps if you have a commanding voice.

Go Left!

Go Right!

etc.

I dunno. I hear a lot of "everybody rush the point now!" being shouted, which 99.9% of the time is really bad advice. I think some players may be a little jaded to loud commands.

I mute anyone shouting and being annoying so chances are if you want me to do something, just ask nicely, and if its not a good idea, I.E. I die lots trying to do it for you, then I'll learn to ignore your orders altogether in the future.

This. I'll generally work with anyone that's being polite and respectful.

People tend to look up to people with mics. i know i do if theres someone with a mic, discussing strategy, and i dont have a mic myself. When i do have my mic, i just say lets take point A or w.e and they usually are good about following. People that have mics are generally pretty chill and are happy to set up plans. Sometimes a i recommend a plan, and then another guy makes an even better one, ill agree and say 'yeah, lets do that'.

This is all just general speaking of course

Be a spy or scout by my lonely, lonely self.

I have a mic but I'm pretty quiet. Too many players seem to see red if you use your mic, maybe because of countless times the feature is abused by tards.

Suffice to say getting vote muted after saying a single thing over voice makes one learn to not bother.

You can get vote muted? I was under the impression each individual player had to mute you, and you weren't informed of it.

What in the hell is the point of vote muting. If someone doesn't want to hear someone, they can mute them, no?

The point of having votes is for things that a normal player cannot do such as kicking, killing, banning, etc.

Play on a decent public server, it's easy. Beautiful when you see coordinated attacks happen simply from people knowing how each other play and how the match is going and when the time is right.
