I thought I would write a post to help out my fellow HL2 buddies who are having problems with ATI cards and HL2.

I recently bought a new computer which has an ATI Radeon 9250 graphics card and found that I got some funny looking graphics like transparent squares on characters faces etc, etc.

After looking high and low for a solution I chanced upon a site that had its own ATI drivers (not the official catalyst one from the ATI site).

Anyway, after a quick install, my HL2 works perfectly. So for any other fellow ATI users out there who are having problems please download the driver from this link. The driver also supports:

ALL-IN-WONDER 9200 SERIES
* Added support for:
-:ECS RADEON 9550 REX 128MB
-:ASUS Extreme AX300SE/T 128MB
-:ASUS Extreme AX600XT-TD 128M
-:C.P. Technologies Inc. RADEON 9250
-:FIC RADEON 9550 128M
-:GeCube RADEON 9550
-:Celestica "Gold Edition" RADEON X300

The site also has many alternative ATI and NVidea drivers for most cards.

Hope this helps you as much as it did me. :cheese:

its an older driver....would it still work....

i am having problems just like u describe....particularly its with mountain sides, people and some noninteractive objects....those "checked rings" show up

i tried plenty of drivers from ATI and Omega...but i remember the only time it worked fine was when i rolled back to an old driver....

i have everything running on high at 1152x, with matcompressedtextures "0" etc almost everything up and running smooth as butter...but problem is those glitches only appear when i set the texture level to high...at medium its fine ;/..but id like to enjoy the rest of the game at max

anyways..ima test out this driver....and hope it works > <

this should fix your problems

You're both lucky, Ive just figured out how to fix this problem

this should fix your guys problems

Go into Halflife options

(write this down):

"Find Control options...

Press the button that says "Console"

Press the "`" button (its the button to the left of the 1 key)

type this:

mat_mipmaptextures 0

press enter.

If it doesn't fix it I would be surprized.

It fixed it for me.

Let me know if it works brother.

*Install the latest drivers also They wouldn't make it worse*
