While you are playing CS:S, what do you have to do so that it shows you at what framerate you are playing it?

Thanks for any help.

net_graph 1 has less clutter ( if you dont need to graph you choke yada yada)

Hm. I just tried that in HL1 and the fps changed between numbers in the 20s and 30s. If im getting that low of an fps in HL1, does that mean that my HL2 fps is going to be dramatically worse...?

What is your graphics card and system specs?
Are you using OpenGL or DirectX?
What resolution and are your AA/AF settings off?
Do you have Vsync disabled?

I was lazy and cheap and just bought an e-machines for four hundred so i dont know much about my video card other than dxdiag tells me its name is Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller and is 64 megs. The pc is an intel 2.6 256mb. I use directx. Im running the game at 640x480, and as for the rest i have no clue wtf you're talking about. Sorry

Are my stats actually important in answering if fps would go down from hl1 to hl2...?

Your HL2 FPS will be pretty low. After you install HL2, you will see if you want to upgrade or not. By the way, OpenGL seems to run best for the orginal Half-life game and mods.

I would recommend getting a FX5200 or Radeon 9200 if you only have a PCI slot. If you have an AGP slot, which is a small brown slot above the white PCI slots, I would highly recommend a 9600SE or 9600 Pro/XT. Depending on how much you want to put into it of course. Generally, the more money you put into a card the more power it will have.

Up until a few months ago i was using an AMD 350 cuz i was too cheap to upgrade... I finally get a new comp and i only spend 400 bucks. Lol, There isnt a chance in heck of me upgrading my video card ^_^ Oh well. I love computers but i love my money more. I should stick to programming instead of gaming, its a lot cheaper.

Eh.. I feel dumb. I set the key for the console (well.. the listing say "In Game GUI") since the typical ~ didn't work, but it won't pull down. Should I say it in chat instead? X_x

Have you activated the Console through Options, Keyboard and Advanced?

Isn't it usually the other way around? (Brown PCI slots, white AGP slot?).

Anyway, you'll see that the AGPslot is aligned differently and is above the PCI slots.
