how to test my map

ok i have searched the threads and i cant find much about it.
how do i test my map out?
when i run the compile tool it just finishes and doesnt do anything.
if someone could tell me how to run test out CSS maps and also HL2 maps i would bear your children.

run css (or whatever), open console, type "map testmapname"

you may ahve to copy the bsp to css/maps directory

there is no console though in hl2 or multiplayer feature?

There is a console in Half-Life 2, you just have to enable it. Go into the Settings, then the Keyboard settings, and click on advanced. Check that box for Console.
