how to texture

man im such a noob i know how to model but i cant seem to figure out how to texture can someone help me.give me a link to a tutorial or video tutorial if its a video tutorial it would be better i hate reading but ill do it just to figure out how to texture my models.

i know hoe to make textures but i dont know how to skin my models sorry i wasent clear. how do i make a model turn into a mesh and load it up into photoshop and skin it and then load it back into 3d max and render it. if i dident make any sense sorry but im new to skinning can someone show me a tutorial.

Speaking of that, I was wondering if there were any VTMs on skinning and the like.

im using 3d max and i did google itbut couldent find anything but then i googled it and finally found somthing.

how about using the official tuts you get with Max ? they work pretty well, and if you still cant get it, then find any tutorial for any program, the principal is always the same.
