im confused and need to learn how to use the cut tool! any tuts?

I don't have Max on the laptop that I'm using now, but when I get back to my PC later today or tomorrow I'll take some pictures and explain it for you. Unless, of course, someone else does it before me. Hang in there.

The cut tool is horrible in Editable Mesh, so I'm going to assume you're using Editable Poly. It is a lot easier to do this if you have Edged Faces turned on and my personal preference is using the Perspective viewport. What you do is you go to either vertex, polygon, or edge selection mode (I like vertex because you can see the points), then you click the Cut button, after you do this, you would click anywhere on the model. If your cursor is on an edge it should show a large crosshair, if your cursor is on a vertex it should show a smaller crosshair, and if your cursor is in the middle of a polygon it should show a crosshair with a box in the middle. Let's say you clicked a vertex, if you click anywhere else on the model, it will make an edge and cut (thus the name) all the way to where the next place you click. Let's say you have a square shaped polygon and you wanted to cut it in half through the center. You would click in the middle of one edge and then click again on the other side. It would split the polygon into two. If you're confused, then just contact me on AIM/ICQ, the details are in my profile.
