How will the CS:Source anti-cheating work?

Cheating was a big reason why I stopped playing Counter-Strike 4 years ago. I'm not naive to the fact that cheating happens on almost any multiplayer game, but it was rampant on Counter Strike. Can anyone inform me if Valve has worked to aleviate this big problem or at least allow the freedom for modders to solve this problem?

Well, it will be a part of Steam, so assumedly it'll use Valve's already implemented anti-cheating system.

One thing they will have to do is probably wait for cheats to come out and find out the cvars and various other things they change and block them. They will also already have a system that stops cvar changes. I'm sure they are working on it.

It's still possible to cheat in Steam using OGC....I don't use it but know it works

Believe it or not, Valve hasn't officially released multiplayer details...

Well.. the Beta.. (I know it isn't the completed product...) has alot of cheating already.. I hope they fix it as well. I quit playing years ago for the same reason. I played Soldier Of Fortune and now Call of Duty but I would prefer to play CS as it uses more current ballistic weapons.

Source is a brand new engine, designed with Valve's experience of cheats. It's going to be a tad more efficient.

They said VAC2 will ship with HL2. Its suppose to be very good.

I've been wondering...

anyone know if they have discontinued supporting VAC(1)(too work on VAC2)? lately 85% of the vAC servers I've been playing on, have had cheaters :|

Yeah well that was like 1998 technology... everybody could make a hack (except me *sigh* ;( ) for it... now with CS:S hopefully VAC will work with the game to see if anybody does something homose... I mean... something bad.
