right, i was really impressed with half-life.
all of the story fitted together so well and it all made sense. you also learn about the origin of the creatures and all about them.
but im just wondering if they can explain in the story of half-life 2, how all of these new headcrabs and other creatures came to be. do you think that they will be able to fit it all together in a well thought out, beleivable story?

o_O

ok...
how will they explain the antlions?
and the bigger antlions?

ok, im not very good at making good threads to try and induce interesting feedback.
ideas anyone?
thoughts?

Look we dont know the story yet (well i do) and like, well, what is the idea behind this anyway i mean of course they will, marc laidlaw said in an interview that some of the aliens are evolved versions of the originals

so dont worry :)

Probably as mutations from creatures that got transported by accident (headcrabs, bullsquids) and adapted to earth life.
And of course, if the BMRF catastrophe was worldwide, they can come with the excuse that the aliens in BMRF weren't all the aliens there were on Xen but many different species got teleported to earth.

Its not your fault.
People like to be asses unfortunatly.

For the different monsters, i have no idea.
To be honest im a bit confused about the story but im sure itll clear up after ive started playing :)

xen is probably a big place with thousands apon thousands of species.

the vortigaunts were my fave enemies in HL ( except for the marines )
i wonder what their agenda is in HL2

edit: it would seem that they are actually intelligent if they can decide what they want to do, unlike the headcrabs, and bullsquids, who follow natural instinct and destroy all life.

hmm, actually. will we see houndeyes and bullsuids in HL2?

Bullsquid, yes. Houndeyes, don't think so.

Yea, the alien slaves were cool. If you killed the alien controllers on xen, and you left an alien slave alive, he wouldn't attack you. He'd just walk around minding his own buisiness. They are docile creatures by nature, but the alien controllers/nihilanth/combine screwed em up.

yeah they have been confirmed along with ichtysoars (sp?)

yes the alien slaves were intelligent, i believe if you watch the hl1 ending closley, and take in all that is said, you will learn alot and part of hl2

Probably towards the end of the game they'll explain the Ant lions and newer aliens..What im lookin to see is how the vigronauts (electrical beam shooting aliens from HL1) came to the human side. Cuz those things were bad MF's , maybe we can use em as allies? who knows. but yea def. expect to see alot of explaination about these new and old creatures.

The vortigaunts were all under control of the Nihilanth (they had those green collars around their neck and arms) and were forced to attack you. Hence the name alien slave. But they are friendly by nature.

I'm pretty sure houndeyes are back. And the easiest explanation is that the new guys are like Race X. From a distant part of Xen.

It's like if Xen were Australia, with crazy kangaroos and koalas, and these new guys are from another Xen continent like Africa, with different species like giraffes and baboons.

No?WTF ARE WE SUPPOSED TO THINK HALO 2 OWNS SO DOES DOOM3 LOLZOLZZOLZOlZOLZOLZOLZOLZOLZOLZ

Interesting to see differemt ways that people use to get "Yes" into six letters. Anyways, I really hope to see the Vortigans fighting in a battle alongside you in HL2.

I wish alien slaves were back...Blowing them to hell was always fun , i got a kick out of blowing them up with shotgun.

Who says you can't?

Although I'm glad the vortigaunts are on your side, they are just too feeble, I'm hoping that the Alien grunts kick some Combine ass along side you.

Alien Grunts were easier to kill then marines if it was you killing them
Alien Grunts could kill a marine easily in an 1:1 fight

I think will Valve will create random enemies for us to kill and not intend to explain anything about them or why we are killing them. Instead we must collect a red key, a blue key and a yellow key to access the magic castle, sneak into the haunted loft, climb the tower of mystery, before jumping into the moat of doom. The end!!

How do you know Vortigaunts are to feeble in hl2? have you played it? no you havnt, just wait and see, doug lombardi said they are a major ally

I heard in a preview that one was gettin beaten up by a combine soldier (don't know how or why)

sorry to be a little snappy

Ah well, i never heard that, where is the source?

I want to see what news aliens we will found in hl2

cuz we know like 10 of the enemies and valve say that will be 50 right?

50 wow. what a variety ( i hope) wont have to go down a corridor killing headcrab, zombie, zombie, vortigrunt(alien slaves), marines (grunts), etc.

I would love to have 50 different enemies IF you got to know everyone of them really good. Like how we nowadays know & recognize the Vortigaunts & headcrabs. If they are just enemies that we will only meet in like 2 battles, then keep 'em out I'd say.

Edit: But that seems like asking way too much ;(
