I think its a piece of art. I always build my PC's but im nearly 100% sure ill be getting this.

Website customization opens Nov, 1st. I was on the phone with them and they said the cheapest version you can buy now is $2840 over the phone its a E 6800 with a 8600GTS.

That case is just so amazing. Anyway iv been following this before the release, havnt seen anything on this forum about it what do you guys think?

Yes its expensive but i think its sure as hell worth it.

I saw that in the most recent PC gamer, they gave it like a 98% or something ridiculously high like that.

As part of the design process, the Blackbird was put through the HP "House of Horrors," a torture chamber for technology designed to identify weaknesses. One test involved placing the machine in an industrial-sized paint shaker. Anything that broke was re-engineered until it didn't.

...we leave the BIOS open – with no proprietary barriers. The memory speed is adjustable, and you can tweak more than a dozen aspects of the system memory frequencies independently of the CPU's FSB, including the CAS Latency, Async Latency, and Command Per Clock. Voltage settings can be adjusted in nine different areas, and a hardware monitor constantly checks the voltage, temperature, and fan speed, warning you if you're putting any part of the system at risk. Set a target temperature for each zone on the motherboard, and the fan controller will maintain it. Once you have your BIOS settings customized, you can save them as a profile for quick configuration changes.

Heat is the enemy of performance PCs, and the three biggest heat generators are the CPU, the GPUs, and the power supply. The Blackbird isolates each of them in its own thermal chamber, ensuring that cooling air isn't contaminated with heat from one component on its way to cool off another.

whoa. can your home-built PC do that? D:

LOOOOOOOOOOOOL

That's even worse pricing than Alienware. OMG at the people that are going to buy this.

I'm buying three of them.

One for my room, one for the living room and one for the bathroom.

If you subtract the regular hardware prices from the system price, you're probably left with a $3500 case (if you customize a proper system). Really worth it?

Well there's also a factory sealed water cooling system... can't exactly buy that. Plus, let's wait and see the actual prices first eh?

"factory-sealed"?
But to me that just means "I don't want to deal with it". Not better...

Neat :D overpriced :x PC.
But PC's shouldn't approach used car prices. Especially not when there are 6 month product cycles. Oh it's out of date now. ;)
The only bad thing I recall about Alienware (besides the price) was the customer support.

That's a nice cooler ... for the CPU... what about the rest of the computer? Can you drop it off a table? :D

But to me that just means "I don't want to deal with it". Not better...

No, it means you don't have to deal with potentially accidentally spilling coolant all over your expensive components.

I did a simple google search for 'factory-sealed' water cooling and got that. Do you want me to search for other things too? I'm just saying there are other options considering the price of that case alone.
But to me that just means "I don't want to deal with it". Not better...
No, it means you don't have to deal with potentially accidentally spilling coolant all over your expensive components.
Isn't that the same thing? :p
And seals are not forever. Plus it won't hurt the PC assuming you clean it up. Since both H20 (pure water, distiled water) and coolant are non-conductive.

On second thought, I would've like to see a longer warranty, service term on that than just 1 year for that price. Although I doubt you'd need it. ^^

If you look at the individual components, maybe... I think its worth it in this CASE though.

100% Agreed.

Your out of your mind. Lets see...

Im going to use the dedication edition for the comparison.

Price of Blackbird 002 Dedication Edition $5500
Price of a custom build using same parts $4500

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115026 $1,034.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145168 $154.00

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150236 $699.99 (x2)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112109 $299.99

Extra:

1. Drives ill give about 100 for two. $100
2. Liquid cooling for cpu gfx. $ ?
3. Motherboard that supports all this at least 280 $280
4. Case, haha cant get a case that comes close but lets say you go for top of the line custom cases.

Give or take $4300 to build it yourself, (without the liquid cooling) which is no where near as well cooled or neat as the blackbird, not to mention everything else about that case is kickass. Prebuilt, made to perfection. Your not saving much and your losing few key points.

In addition, while the motherboard has Nvidia's latest chipset it has been tweaked to utilize both SLI and Crossfire. So you don't have to go out and buy a new mobo if you want to switch to one or the other.

you can add in later components if you want right? like extra harddrives, ram or gpu's?

Hell even I had the money I wouldn't buy the damn thing.

Neat :D overpriced :x PC.
But PC's shouldn't approach used car prices. Especially not when there are 6 month product cycles.

My thoughts exactly, it's getting ridiculous.

It is. Nice unique case, sure. But a ridiculous amount to spend on a pre-built pc, even for a pc enthusiast.

As i proved above there is a minimal difference in price.

If I had the money I'd buy it. If they made a laptop version with this design, that would be absolutely crazy.

As i proved above there is a minimal difference in price.
But most who would normally build their own also don't spend lots of money on a PC. They know how quick the product cycle is and if they had the same money to put into PCs they would probably prefer to buy a new less costly PC more often than one really expensive PC which will go out of date asap.

He simply said that it was expensive.

Hell if I had the money I'd get one. That thing is sexy inside and out. Not the cheap one with the gimped 8600 though.

It's still windows only :(

I want a dual boot Os X and vista!

Exactly, you may be able to build a pc with the same components for a similiar price, but that's still a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a pc, even if you are an enthusiast. Not only that, but you could build a pc with similiar performance with different parts, for a decent amount less (omitting the extreme edition chip alone would see a huge saving).

And Asus brings up an important point regarding the product cycle. If you are aware of how quickly components go out of date, how do you justify spending such a premium on something that is going to be out of date so quickly. The case i can understand, a really nice case is worth forking out for, especially as it can be used for the life span of more than one rig.
