Hi
I gave my friend my Volcano 9 for an athlon XP a while ago when I upgraded to an A64. Since the time I gave it to him, he was idling ~47C with it. He said that he figured it why the cpu was running so hot, and that it was due to the fact that the fan was sucking out and now blowing in, and that now he idles in the high 30s. I could swear that it's supposed to be sucking out, not blwoing in.

Anyway, my K8N Neo Plat. fried and i'm temporarily running on an athlon XP current with a big vantec lump of copper with an extra loud fan suckiing out. When I run this CPU as a 2600+ (what it is), it idles around 50-52C. Will flipping the HSF fan over cool it down?

I run the CPU as a 2000+ now (since I'm not doing any gaming till i get my mobo back and a new video card), and it idles around 44.

Yes it will, definately. HSF is suppose to have air flow inward toward the processor.

its supposed to be blowing air onto it...
