So, here we are. The human race. We love to love, create, imagine, explore, invent, and most of all WAR.....

So, why do we fight, no matter how screwed up someones brain it, there is always a violent tendency. We constantly destroy each other in both the virtual world and the real world.

I have noticed that we are getting really close to killing the same amount of people in video games in the last 5 years as people that have died in battle in the real world since 500bc. Amazing isnt it, when we can unleash our full fury out in a arena with no holdbar and no danger we go nuts.

Are we really this violent? Do you think we would do the same thing givin the same situation of lawlesness in the real world as in the virtual one?

Personally I would destroy everyone I could see. I would shoot anything that moved.

What do you guys think, are we in essance just killers to fulfil the darwin theory, or is it something more?

Something much, much more.

No, the fruits will rise up! There will be a fruit and vegetable war.. only the ripest of the fruits and crispest of the vegetables will survive!

this thread looks like it's ready for some hot sex :)

on topic: humans love power, and many people think that the greatest power comes with the ability to destroy, be it life, places, things, whatever. The sadness lies in the fact that the greatest power we have is the exact opposite of destruction, the power to create, to give birth to things we imagine. Sometimes it seems that humans can only create something if the creation can lead to destruction, which is just awful.

something so much more, its just its ashame that the majority of us either have no control over it or just think in terms of how much more money can I have,, lol ( this and the fact that in the real world we can actually die and we dont know if we get another go, like a saved game)

well then, let's get together and put that duct tape you mention in your sig to good use :)

when are we gonna eventually realise that we are all on the same piece of rock?, i think our problem is we are forced into a lifestyle of 'Democracy' lol.. and we never end up thinking big , and then all that matters is individual survival. wheres our collective, like this forum is, (sometimes). Racisim doesnt help :(

I think the people like war, I think deep down inside people get a kick out of the killing, and the bombs and the guns. It's a rash thing to say, no one admits to it either, but it's true. People like drama, they enjoy violence, it's exciting. Let's face it, how boring would this world be if we lived in the garden of Eden?

in that case couldnt games have a very positive outlook in the future using our agressive energy on an FPS game rather then beating people up or starting vengence wars or gang wars... why not settle it over a network link up :P , lol like relieving yourself in a toilet and not someones front yard when your desperate to pee.

but to be quite honest I think the education system is to blame for those attitudes, I mean its pretty easy to influence the population when there very young. Teach them to be more peaceful I say. and less competitive

how boring would this world be if we lived in the garden of Eden?

if we did we probably wouldnt know anything else, and that would be a society that also demands a way of life. So there would still be rules i guess. but perhaps being in a society like that would dampen the agressive feelings, . Do you think the majority of the population could control there emotionial tendencies to a certain extent to allow a better world to develop, .or are we still that barbaric.. :o

I want to bash heads with a crowbar, rip out the hearts of my victums and feast upon their soul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nah j/k,

or am i??

Couldnt agree with you more, violence seems to be a human obsession.

A perfect society would be boring, there would be no challenge and no way to really identify your feelings. The only reason your able to enjoy pleasure is because you have felt unbearable pain. What would one be without the other? A nickel with only a front? The crest of a wave without a trough? If there is a heaven it most be the most horrible place imaginable.

Now there's an interesting thought...

^^^
You do realize some people are religious here right? Let alone Christian;Jewish...

Yea I do, not to sound like a ass but what does that have to do with anything? Thats my opinion that IF there is a heaven it must be terribly boring.

Just don't go dis-respecting Religious people is what I'm saying is all...not that you're doing that.
I like how you can post your opinions without bashing religious people...
Un-like that GOD DAMN f uCKER commieX, that homo!

lol alright well since you brought it up let me say Im not trying to offend anyone, only bringing up a point: Would the ideal perfect place such as heaven really be that appealing? With no pain what is pleasure?

Off to bed all

You guys are true..

But lol you can clearly see that people here watch too much movies, from the matrix: To have power over something is to be able to destroy it.. And the" A perfect society would be boring since we base our reality on pain/suffering"..

Just a situation of lawlessness isn't all we'd need. Sure they'd be a few phsycos but most would be afraid of getting hurt/killed themselves. If for some reason someone was invincible and could feel no pain, it'd be up to them to decide whether to kill someone. If we were ALL invincible with no pain, then it'd be just like a video game. I think most people know the difference between fake violence and real violence.

A little off topic but i've heard Tredoslop's signiture before, but instead of:

The Force is like duct tape-there is a dark and light side and holds things together

I heard:

Duct-Tape is like the force. It has a dark side and a light side and it holds the universe together.

Cool sig anyway. I wonder who thought of it in the first place.

well, I didn't get my ideas from the Matrix, that's for sure.

It's just true that most people think power comes with the ability to destroy, and a perfect world would be boring, very, very boring. It would get stale after a while, and I'm sure people would resort to violence if only to shake things up a bit. There are of course other alternatives to using violence for entertainment (actually games fit pretty well in here), but they are things which are harder to achieve harder to pull off, and human beings are a lazy bunch of bastards when it comes right down to it.

Why we are here, I do not know. But I do know, that today, the Black Knights will triumph.

Until we have killed a person, we can no more than speculate over that. But for some reason, i dont think everyone gets a kick out of killing. That seems like a very cynical train of thought...

Its interesting that people say a perfect world would be boring. It begs the question....what is your idea of perfect? The essence of perfect is that it can be no better. The perfect world would in no way be boring, it would be....Perfect.

What does it say about you and your dreams when you imagine the perfect world to be a dull place? What does that say about society and its influence on our hopes and ambitions?

you cant have Yin without Yang,, but surely you could strike more of an equal balance..?

Something interesting about the good and evil idea. You cant have one without the other...but who says where they need to be? I think that to achieve perfection, you first must go through a time of imperfection. I think that there is a heaven and it will be perfect, but to live in a perfect world, you first need to have a precident to compare it against, but you also have to know what its like living the imperfect life, so i you dont feel to need to "try it out", which is what i think the idea behind adam and eve turning to to sin. (You may have guessed that i am in fact Christian)

The idea of perfect is something without defect or blemish.

Im not really sure where your going with this can you explain further? I dont really see that as bad only rational, the idea is to have a balance of the good and the bad.

Good point I actually thought about this when i first started to post, but this kinda overlooks what Im saying. Im saying that in a perfect world nothing is really challenging its perfectness, or if you will your happiness. So how enjoyable is happiness if its never challenged? It kinda loses all of its value if you dont go through a time of distress inbetween those moments of happiness.

Some times cynics are right...people enjoy violence, at least, they enjoy it when it's not happening to them. People NEED it in their lives (granted some need more than others).

Sorry Farrow, but a perfect world would get old (assuming we both define perfect in the same way, I'm thinking along the lines of Eden here). People would eventually get bored, and I can eaisly see humans killing each other for sport and fun. Hell, we do that today, and god knows our world has enough violence in it already to appease even the most disturbed of us.

I'm not totally sure if that first sentence was aimed towards me, but I think all it says is that I can see how easily a place like Eden could bore me to death rather quickly. Admit it, if we were all living in a big happy garden, we would eventually become bored, and violence wouldn't seem so bad. If that makes me evil or something, than so be it, I'm evil. At least I'm honest.

I know that when I go into the SEALs, it's a guarantee I will kill. It's not something I'm happy about, or the reason I joined. But, it's something I'm willing to do to defend what I belive in. The thought that we all enjoy death is cynical indeed. I enjoy watching American tanks own Iraqi tanks, yes. I enjoyed watching the statue of Saddam being torn down. I even enjoyed knowing when Iraqi troops were captured or killed. But, I didn't take pleasure in the death itself, more or less the fact that they nolonger posed a threat to Iraq, our troops, and the world. Now, there are those who take pleasure in killing - Saddam, Hilter, Stalin, Milosevic, etc.
But, not every human is this way. Even I, a future killer, do not even take pleasure in the thought of killing. And when I say future killer I don't take pride in that wording, but admit that is what I will do at some points in my career.

Ok I have a question for all-why is death looked at as so bad? Its as natural as passing bowels but we make such a big deal of it. Not to get off on religion but I always find it funny when religious people mourn the death of others when they believe in a much better afterlife. Is it out of selfishness or deep down we are all uncertain as to what happens after death? Alright sorry I just kinda semi-hijacked the thread.

death isn't bad, people are just sad that they lost there loved ones. It could be seen as selfish, and alot of it probably stems from fears about the afterlife (if there is one). To be honest, I'm not sure if it's possible for a person to be 100% faithful, it's a humans job to wonder and ask questions. When there is no answer except "have faith", well, that's not too convincing.

Because we're human beings, and we miss those that we love. Or, it could be that they died a horrible way.

Sorry, but I've lost over 5 people my life time.
1 was to suicide(which is very painful to remember), others are too painful to mention, and another to a heart-attack.

If it's the religious that are so bad, how are you any better by pointing out what you see to be flaws? Sorry, I just get tired of people always poking fun at us. We're humans, too. I've stood rather quietly while getting made fun of.(threads, tv shows, radio, posters, games, movies, etc) I think it's about time I stop. :|

EDIT: Yeah, I know I make a lot of jokes. But, that's just what they are - Jokes.
I'm friends with almost everyone on this board I argue with. Even Communists.
