Do you think, with all the wars and all the natural disasters, the human race will survive the 22nd century?

22nd and yes.

Absolutely. (Maybe some human specis may not make it but as for a whole, it will)

No, a comet will kablammo the world and we will all drown/be roasted like potatoes :)

Maybe, if we're lucky enough to avoid a gigantic natural disastor (ice caps melting, global warming, super volcanos, giant comets) we will surely be drastically reduced in numbers by that time.

The world is on the verge of another world war but it'll be peaceful for a while after that then happen all over again. I bet we will but probably not as we think we will.

HIGHLY UNLIKELY. Todays wars are on terrorism, and as far as the rest of other countries common sense goes no one is going to become allies with say Al Queda (sp?)

I vote no. What with all the wars, the humans creating A.I., the humans making another ice age due to pollution, global warming causing storms and terror, meteorites that are bound t hit us sooner or later, hidden volcanoes that if errupted could cover the face of the earth in dust, and above all GEORGE BUSH, i think we stand a very slim chance. oh, and dont forget that badgers could invade.

HIGHLY LIKELY. The war on terror is a lie to give the government your civil liberties and more power. As we can all learn through US foreign policy, and empires in general, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I am going to go into examples but i have to assemble the proper sources first (there are volumes of them) so i won't be flamed to death for not having sources.

Well, for me the world will end by then. Once I'm dead, it won't matter to me whether it's the 22nd century or the 30th century.

I voted for yes. Humans don't suck. If you think we'll be destroyed in the 22nd Century, you don't deserve to be a human and you don't deserve to live.
Pessimists.
:frown:

Read history. People have been saying that "boy it's really bad now" for the last few thousand years. So while there is always the possibility, I think we'll be fine.

Yeah, er, ignore what the goths and pessimists tell you. Human beings are very strong and enduring creatures at they're very core. We can withstand a hell of a lot more than we give ourselves credit for. I think we'll make it, some of us at least. Anyway, if we go down, the whales are coming with us!

Humans suck. It is the thing we call pollution that is destroying the Earth. And what we are doing... well nothing. Each time I'm on my bike, ride on a road and see the millions of cars waiting in lines for going to work, I think that the humans suck.

BTW, I'm not pessimist, I'm realistic and I'm not saying we all going to die before the 22nd century. I just want to know your opinions.

I don't care but I don't think you're an idiot. If humanity does falter and die off, it prolly deserved it. If not, oh well there is always next year.

Humans biggest flaws are lazyness and the love of money and power. thats whats killing the earth and besides that im not too fond of people either. :P

No, I can't afford a car right now because I'm only 15 and I'm thinking of not getting a car... never. Bikes are the future.

I really am not understanding you right now. US is not absolute power no matter what all the bush haters are saying. And you saying that the government is lieing to us (if there is some truth to taht) how is that going to start A WORLD WAR. Why would all the countries turn on each others and make alliances. This is not what it was like during WW2, most every countires have nukes and such, if anything escalades to a war it will be like the cold war.

Bikes are the future.

For people that cant afford cars maybe. I did see a homeless guy riding one down the street a few days ago... maybe its just catching on.

The bike, on the other hand, is the invention of a warped mind and possibly the work of the devil, designed to lead road-users astray from the road of good. For the sake of genetic purity, it is our duty to eliminate the taint of cyclists from the gene pool. Cyclists should be regarded as evolutionary dead ends; a failed evolutionary experiment, diseased side-branches to be pruned from the human evolutionary tree ....

18-speed bikes don't even try to hide the fact that they are the work of the devil. 666, the number of the beast, is plainly evident: there are 3 front cogs and 6 back cogs. Three sixes - 666. Some people no longer try to hide the demonic link - they invert their drop handlebars: clearly the horns of the beast.
Proof of the insanity of cyclists. And those links were damn funny if you read them stern.

AntiAnto, have you considered the fact that humans are developing new technology? Yeah, we're not going to be stuck with the same bull-shit technology (in the 22nd Century, it'll be obsolete, therefore, it is bull-shit) in the 22nd Century and let global warming (we'll probably fix it without the help of people like you). Car pollution may destroy the Earth? Oh no! Maybe our electric cars and other environmentally safe devices will contribute. And we'll probably have colonized Mars and then to other solar systems.
Maybe you should contribute to the human race instead of complaining about how much we suck.

It isn't an absolute power yet...

its an establishment of a new world order. All the countries of the world unite to "squash terrorism". But the problem the United States and looks like the European Union to a lesser extent is that civil liberties are being heaivly eroded. US patriot act, have you even read through this!? It's insane! BUt its the law now

The secret patriot act II was leaked out and it pretty much is the pure definition of dictatorship. And we really can't relate this war to any previous war because we havn't had this kind of "war".

There are consipracy theores (albeit some of them do have credible bases) that the US staged 9/11 in an pre-text to start taking over as they have gradually been doing for the past couple of decades.

The government has lied to us because they tighten all forms of domestic security but leave the borders wide open, and bush is even passing legislation to give illegal immigrants green cards easy. But this is all making us all secure.

I guess the definition of security is taking away all of our liberties that this country is supposedly found on, and trying to make us afraid of one another. The color coded terrorist alert?
Straight from the governments website:

"All Americans should continue to be vigilant, take notice of their surroundings, and report suspicions items or activities to local authorities immediately. Everybody--whether living in New York City, Washington, D.C., or another part of the country--should establish an emergency preparedness kit as well as a communications plan for themselves and their family, and stay informed about what to do during an emergency situation.
"

this is insane

Give the executive branch to much power and you should learn from history that giving men a taste of power makes the thirst insatiable.

Just thought I should say, I really really like the point you make. Thanks :D

EDIT: Ill stay out of this one.. hehe I am sick of arguing for the night.

Terrorism is an easy excuse. I'm not saying it's not a threat, but not as much as the Bush Administration would like the general populous to believe. Besides, Iraq had no links whatsoever to al-Qaeda and we (as in the Coalition) went to war there.

I don't know if we'll blow ourselves up, but we need to turn our rape of the environment around quick-sharp for starters.

After reading Olaf Stapledon's Last and First Men, I became convinced that mankind will continue to exist in some form or quantity for almost forever.

I am contributing... and I am not saying that humans will be sitting on their asses and do nothing. But right now, environment is not a priority. Maybe later, when disasters will kill a lot of people, gouvernments will react. And we are wondering why there is a lot of hurricans.

When we've f*cked up earth enough we'll leave it in spaceships and f*ck up other planets.

"we'll probably fix it"
- Asshat optimist

I think humanity will change a LOT - and what ever survives this century will hardly be recognisable to us ... but yeah I guess it'll survive.

Unfortunately.

Humans are a virus. We will spread from planet to planet draining all the natural resources and moving on.

Yes, I think we will survive in 100 years. We've made it so far...
