At least 130 people have been killed and 300 injured by seven bombs on the train network in the Indian financial capital Mumbai (Bombay), police say.

The first of the near-simultaneous blasts went off at about 1830 local time (1300 GMT), during the rush hour in the suburbs on the Western Railway.

London flashbacks, anyone? :(

HUNDREDS DEAD? Oh, its just the third world. hundreds probably die every day in that city just by getting stepped on by greater amounts of people.

you have no sympathy for people killed in a violent terrorist attack? Of course conditions there are terrible, but terrorist attacks certainly don't help.

I can't believe this. And we're so afraid of being executed or 'watched', we would allow these men such power.

Dude... i'm really starting to get tired of your comments... especially since I don't know whether you're being sarcastic or serious.

But on topic... I saw this on yahoo news when it happened... awful indeed :(

Ghandi needs to rise from the dead and kick some ass in an overtly non-pacifistic way.

first madrid, then london, now this. i think anyway.

Thats sounds horrible. Hundreds dead.

But I don't feel much sadness, to be honest. I dunno why.

btw, I don't worry about any terrorist attacks here, especially when military police and Tactical Strike Squads are patroling every single subway station, key buildings, ect.

And they even have APCs, too.

It's a human think, numbers. Generally, most of the people in this thread will read it, feel a twinge of sadness/nothing at all, and continue with their lives. People only give a real damn when it happens closer to home.

It's partially a product of this age, though... a sort of desensativity to death and destruction due to our high exposure to it. Well, our high but long-distance-away exposure to it. I think Douglas Adams wrote a bit about it in Salmon of Doubt.

Yeah, this is horrible. It is a scary reminder of just what might happen if, say, the fellow who was plotting a similar attack against the NYC subways recently actually followed through without being picked up. Shades of London and Madrid...really awful stuff.

I think it has more to do with our disassociation with those people/events. I don't know them. I don't care. "This age" is more sensitive to stuff like this if anything at all. Some people are very sensitive, some are not.
Hundreds died? Yeah that sucks for some people. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it. It's illogical to worry about it until it hits home. It may or may not. Life's short enough as it is and if you are gonna die early, don't waste it worrying.

My point here is I don't think we should blame apathy on desensitization through culture. Desensitization is what keeps doctors good at their job.

Is this guy for real?

I just spend two whole nights and a day trying to contact my friends and a cousin who goes to college there. Communication is next to impossible.Luckily ,they are all alive and well. Not so 300 other people whose only crime was to take the evening train.
Mumbai has a long history of terrorist attacks. The problem there is that the state is the hotbed of Hindu fundamentalist elements in India..especially the Shiv Sena. So naturally there are plenty of disgruntled muslim youth who are easy recruits for foreign terrorists.

Another problem is the heavy presence of organised crime, whose kingpins are based in Pakistan( Dawood Ebrahim ,for instance) or the gulf countries like Dubai. These guys have close links with terrorist and provide enough money and the manpower on the ground. The Mumbai police, whose "encounter specialists" (policemen with the licence to kill gangsters without bringing them in for trail...they just "arrange" encounters and shoot them dead) were reined in due to widespread corruption , have their hands full with organised crime, and no time to tackle terrorists.

Anyway, Mumbaikars have shown great restraint....in the past, such events provoked a backlash against the muslims from the hindu majority...which is exactly what the terrorists want.

Mumbai will survive this, as they did all acts of terror since the notoriious 1993 seral bombings.People will get on trains, kids will go to school, the stock exchange will rise and life will be back to normal in the blink of an eye.

Thats why the terrorists will never win.

According to IB the prime suspect is Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) - a group with strong links to al-Qaeda - which was set up with the assistance of the Pakistani intelligence services a decade ago as a Kashmiri separatist organisation, by the way dude ur words define racism and the current news is more than 200 peoples are arrested in Malwani.

It has since expanded on to the international stage and members have been arrested in the UK, the US and Australia. One of the London 7/7 bombers, Shehzad Tanweer, is believed to have stayed at a madrassa run by LeT in Mudrike, outside Lahore.

How ? you mean against muslims?.Hell ,no. I live in a city where a hindu temple ,a mosque and a church are all located within 50 meters of each other.I live in a suburb surrounded by muslims who help in every way they can.I always get invited to their houses for the Id. Half my friends are muslim. They too think the same way.
Sometimes the truth is uncomfortable to face.

I mean to say How can u say only disgruntled muslim youth are behind this or they have been recruits? it's ur tradition(Hindu) (that doesn't mean i'm sarcastic) that makes u belief that only Muslims are behind this, I just wanna update u LeT use ghoospethis (Bangladeshis) to do all this cowardly and shocking things and by the way where ever u live every human mind in India is been hit by racism.

but suspected arrested in Malwani are all bangladeshis.

Bangladesh and nepal are major areas for ISI recruitment. Its also easier to get into India from these countries.
We liberated the bangladeshi's from Pakistans control in the seventies( probably the only successful attempt at nation-building in the recent past) and those guys cant even put a tight lid on all the anti-India activities and rhetoric there.

From experience. India's main problem is with Pakistan, which is not as secular a country as you'd think.

India is secular country and every secular country have racism in many matters like if you have RSS or VHP the muslims have SIMI and AIMSF so main thing is that "When other Asian nations are busy building their future, we are embroiled in... disputes over mosques and temples."

This attack is either retribution for the Gujarat incident, or organised by Pakistan's rogue ISI. There is no other reason why this attack could have happened.

There is some racism in India, but Hindus have no reason to blow the crap out of themselves.

Don't worry about him, he's in the KKK.

I think The Feds/the Zombie Master Mafia/Pi Mu Rho edited his post.

My post on 7/18 was deleted by someone. When media said Yahoo and Google bow down to Chinese government to censor the dissent, they neglect samething happened in US too. Only one does it openly and the other one does it covertly. That's the only difference between "totalitarian" and "democracy".

--------

The Mumbai bombing originated from "Miami terror cell" case. Continued with "NYC tunnel bombing plot". You can read it in my messages "415 - 420". which was deleted here. (In my homepage "The dark side of USA")

422. Poison food and Indian market (7/20/06)

"Why are you so afraid of eavesdropping (warrantless) if you have nothing to hide?" This is how Feds used to countercharge their critics.

Because in US, it means unreasonable search and arrest becoming legal. It means planting evidence and framing case becoming possible. It also means victim may suffer illegal torture and murder such like poisoning and EM wave shooting.

In mid April, I went to the post office to pick up tax form. I bought some food in a Chinese super market near the post office. There was a severe cough after I ate the meat bought there. The cough was so strong that I couldn't sleep for nights. It lasted several weeks. The poison might be some kind of radiation material (isotope). I had suffered such kind of poisoning before but none was so severe like this one. At same time, I also found some people coughing like me when I went to shopping. In my area, I think most people work for the Feds as support group. Those informants may think they work for justice. They never dreamed of they are working for an evil. In my case, I think many would have suffered poisoning when they pretending customers. In extreme cases they could become scapegoat such like Muhammad and Malvo in DC sniper case and ignorant suicides in London bombing case.

Then there was a news in Media:
Quote, "Book details Mossad's chocolate assassination
Poison a sophisticated weapon for Israeli intelligence
Saturday, May 6, 2006;

JERUSALEM (AP) -- Israel's Mossad secret service agency killed a Palestinian wanted for airplane hijackings by feeding him poisoned Belgian chocolate over six months in the late 1970s, according to a new book, the author said Saturday.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/05/06/chocolate.assassin.ap/index.html

It seems Negroponte has introduced new poison for the Feds from Israel's Mossad.

On 6/30, I went to the post office to mail a "Foreign account" form to the Treasury. I went to that Chinese Super Market again. I had a desolate feeling. 6/30 was Friday. It was evening and should be the most prosperous time for the market. But there was much less people in the Super market then usual. Feds moved their support group away for some other mission? Or just to protect them from new poison from Israel? I puzzled. One thing impressed me very much was that Feds controlled at least half of the residents live in my area. Their decision could immediately desert a cheerful Super Market.

Scared to be bombed in public transit system, I hadn't set foot on bus for past six months. Now facing the danger of new poisoned food, I had to diversify my food sources.

Chain super market Albertson would shut down some branches because of slow business. Two of them are on the tram line I used to take. On 7/9, I saw an advertisement of inventory blew out. For the first time this year, I took a tram to a nearby Albertson.

There was an Indian food store next to the Albertson. For diversity, I went to that store too. I was used to be the only customer in that small store, two or three Indians more sometimes. But that day I found there were many Indian customers there. It was a big change after six months. Some of the Indians took the same tram when I came back. Several dropped off in same station I got off. Apparently, they live in my neighborhood. Feds moved a lot of Indians in.

It seems Feds moved many Indians in whom attended Indian store which I couldn't reach when I abandoned the public transit system. But when I start to take tram again, what will they do?

The response was swift. I took the tram on 7/9. One day later, on 7/11 there came the Mumbai bombing. Feds still will use the "terror attack" to eliminate. And justify it by Indian link.
