HL2 got 95% in hyper, the same mag that gave KOTOR 85% and Zelda: Orcania of time 94%
"The action covers everything from holdingmake-shift forts with the help of sentry guns, to militairy base assaults, classic survival horror sequences, big-hunts and classic, boss encounters filled with dodging and unloading clip after clip of ammo"
"One of the things that puts players into the driver's seat is the Gravity Gun. Once you pick it up, it lets you attract, repel, toss and carry objects throughout the game. For some reason it is crazy fun knocking zombies off their feet using paint cans and dressers as projectile weapons..."
"If you say, use a buzz saw instead of a paint can, then the Gravity Gun becomes one of the most awesome weapons in the game"
(Referring to the crowbar) "It is a real sword-in-the-stone feel-good moment when Gordan gets reunited with that hunk of metal"
"Now, HL2 doesn't do everything perfectly. As I've mentioned the pace for the first half of the game gets a little lost, and there are some other issues as well. When wyou get a squad, they sometimes do odd things and get in the way instead of help; the guns could have done with a little more beef; the racing sequences could either be tighter or more truly free-roaming and Gordan could do with a little more direction from time to time, but ultimately all these niggles fade as the game swings into high gear"
"... that's Half-Life 2 all over: you're having fun playing a shooter, and then one knowing glance, a wink, or a Dawn of the Dead piece of mayhem and you'll forget the outside world exists. Go buy it"
Plus: It's a fantastic world that sucks you in. Freeman and crowbar reunited
Minus: The action occasionally skips a beat before getting into the groove
Graphics: 95
Sound: 90
Gameplay: 94
Overall: 95 (Game of the Month)
There highest review to date is of Halo 1 - 96%
Overall all, hyper is a very tough magazine, they really don't give marks easily. I think they gave games like RTW and Far cry scores in the 80s. HL2 is gonna own!
