this shoudl be in the faq (don't knwo if it is):

when you start hammer from the source sdk window, make sure you have the right gametype selected at the bottom first.

I got so confused between the various game configs that I deleted all but DM and was finally able to build DM maps after redoing all my settings.

I wouldnt' want to try and get separate profiles set up again. But, I only want to do DM maps anyway.

Don't feel bad for not knowing, it's a confusing pain in the ass to set up.

Theyve automated it now yknow? When you load up the SDK look at the bottom of the window, select either "Half Life 2" "Counter Strike: Source" or "Half Life 2 Death Match" and any custom configs you have, but i stick to those three ready made ones.

all i am doing now is making multiplayer maps. it gets boring!!!
