I wish a tablet though. Mouse-drawing gets tedious.....

The light reflecting of the metal kinda detracts from the picture I think.

the picture would be looking awesome if it werent for the lense flares.
love the pose btw.

Too much shiny stuff, and especially when the robot's not done yet. Wait for the details until you're done with the fundaments.

yeah i'm doing it with the mouse.

The lens flares, I know..... basically, I did all the lens flares with just paint and then for that little starry effect i put on the filter....... i'll cut down on the reflection though. Thanks for the comments.

No offense but those lens flares looks like nothing i've seen done with paint - looks like somebody's gotten just a tad too attached with photoshops filter effects :p

If I were you, I would block out the robots form first. Then figure out the major lighting information, value breakdown, THEN.. polish, and add detail, highlights, etc.. The way you are going right now, is kind of backwards... you have to resist the urge to start adding details right away. You will find building complex images, as you are attempting, much easier if you break it down somewhat like that: composition, gesture, form, values, detail.

I told you, i added them last... the only part of the flare you can see are the little star arms and the colored dots like green and blue....

I am a pastel, paint, and pencil artist. I know everything you told me. This drawing I'm working on isn't like, portfolio material. I was having fun with lights and reflections, trying to make it look shiny and sorta goofy. I know about layering and not adding detail until the end. That's basic. I am an art student at SCAD. But thanks for your critism anyways - i always enjoy it.

hmm are you gona give the bot legs or is he gona just fly around?

that could look excellent when done tbh... it has very very much potential.
