This is without a doubt the greatest game I've ever played in my life. I don't know what else to say. I'm only here because I had to stop playing for ten minutes to feed myself. If only I had plasmids in real life :D

Im ****ing loving it too man :D

so many possibilities

downloading right now

might have to run it at a slighly lowered resolution though :/

played 10mins and its the best game you ever played, takes 10mins for the bluddy game to start!. its so over rated and hyped its unbelivable, i watch my bro play it and it looks the most boring and dull game ive ever seen, but thats just me! :).

****, why UK people are the last gamers on earth to play the ****ing game.

FUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCK

No reason at all, that I know of. It's just an "arbitrary imposition", as the g-man puts it.

So far its really interesting game. Cant wait to get back to it.
Btw how do you take screenshots?

They look for any excuse, any to raise prices, like a simple geographical boundary. Hasn't the internet taught them that oceans aren't in the way so much these days?

Relatively aren't you getting the game cheaper because of conversion rates?

Holy shit, serious how long is this game. Im up to the 2nd chapter fighting the guys in the ice filled room where you have to drop your weapons. Iv been playing for abouy 7 hours and when it showed the slots for all the sections of the game i saw 8 and im still at 2. Playing on Hard but im hardly dieing. Im pretty sure iv found every secret so far. Iv saved 1 little sister (the 1st one) every other i have eaten!

You would think so as the rate is around 2 Dollars to 1 Pound, but that doesn't seem to happen with any retail product in the UK. The amount of tax the government dollops on top to line it's own pockets brings prices up to the same as the dollar.

A good example being CDs. You guys pay what, $10-15 dollars a CD? Maybe a bit more... Shops over here like to charge the same price in pounds sterling, so we pay something like twice the price you do. God bless ripoff Britain, the biggest nation of idiot consumers around, who love to look down their noses at anyone 'rude' enough to try and stand up for their consumer rights...

(stupid forum with it's no pound signs...!)

Gunner, how freightning/somewhat scary has it been so far, if anything? Shock moments to downright creepy stuff, etc...

(I'm not a pussy, I'm just really hoping it's full of creepy shit to do with atmosphere, as that's when gameplay becomes something special to me)

There are some creepy moments, there's not much of that "zomg zombie in the wall/closet behind you" that plagued doom. Last night I almost pissed my pants because of something. I'll put it in spoilers, you shouldn't read it though. Others who have come across it will know.

Houdini splicer

They were perhaps the coolest things in the game since Dark Jedi in Dark Forces 3: Jedi Knight Academy.

I am glad you are ecstatic. Surprised, but glad. Somebody has to buy it.

I however will not waste valuable harddrive pr0n space on a game that allows you to use telekinesis to pick stuff up and throw it... but not your hands :hmph:

Well on hard it can apparently take around 20 hours.

If youre complaining about the length, then i pity you. How many groundbreaking games have been released that took you about 4 hours to complete in one sitting??? Yeah, quite a few when you think about it.

Its about time a game came out where you can get lost in the story, gameplay and looks, AND want to replay it again? Thats the making of the best game ever in my eyes. The demo was awesome, i keep wanting to go back and play it over and over just to pass the time lol.

We pay like, 20$...
Atleast, in Canada that's what the normal price seems to be around here..

I downloaded the demo. I'm amazed at how beautifully the game runs on my system. Very smooth for the great visual quality at 1280x960 with everything turned on besides DX10 shaders.

I was blown away when I saw that rushing water. I'm just at the beginning of the demo.

The problem with the areas in the game that involve rushing water is that you stand and watch it for a few seconds and then you realise the room isn't filling. I know that would be INSANE to make happen in a game, but it's like the new blood effects in HL2: Episode 2 - emphasizing something that when looked into behind the pretty effect, is actually quite distracting because it doesn't quite fit.

During the demo, when the plane crashes through the walkway and the corridor starts flooding, the water comes up to the tip of the stairs leading out the corridor and it just constantly stays at that level, when the flow of the water suggests that the small, confined space you are in should be rapidly flooding. Again, I understand how difficult this might be for the devs, but y'know.

Yeah, I noticed that, and stayed there for a moment expecting it to flood the area. That would have been far more immersive if it did flood the area. I mean it was just a small tube all things considered!

To be quite honest, despite the leisurely pace I usually set, at that moment I was more concerned with not getting killed to find out whether the room would actually fill with water. I thought that it wouldn't, but I also realized there was absolutely no point in hanging around.

I see what you mean though, and somewhat agree.

Well, I played through the demo an unhealthy amount of times so I did stop to check a few times. :p But compared to everything else in the game it was quickly swept aside as something not to get bothered about, much like the new blood effects in Ep. 2 won't ad negatives to the game at all, merely just something for me to nitpick about.

I noticed that, but chalked it up to emergency systems somehow draining the water (pressurized? I dunno).

Just past that I think when you're attacked by a flaming splicer and then ride an elevator another such situation arises. I decided to stop there my second run through to see what happens. The room begins to fill quite nicely, but stops before it would kill you (A hot wire dangling from one of the shafts is just a bit above the halted water level). Again could be explained by some sort of drainage, but really, would it have been that bad to just shock the player if he sat around too long on that room? I suppose the last Vita-Chamber was underwater. Still would've been nice for the leaking Rapture to kill you a few times. Ah well.

There is a time when the water keeps rising in the room you are in. The one with several elevators but only 1 working one. But I've never stuck around longer than maybe waist high to see just how high the water goes.

Oh god that was awesome! I played the demo through just a bit ago... and that room where the water is rising was amazing. I didn't stay long enough in there to look at it, but maybe I should. I was sitting in there saying out loud "Oh shit... oh shit" while my brother was watching. I was tempted to stay and wait but he told me to get the heck out of there.

That's the room I was talkin about above :p

Nothing happens, though you *would* die if it rose only another foot or so. It stops about waist-deep or so.

It's too bad objects don't seem to get visibly wet :(.

hah
I didn't read your post all the way through. Interesting that it stops. But it's still awesome that it fills that much.

But I don't think the part with the airplane crashing through is very realistic. You are under the ocean and the structure is under insane pressure. Wouldn't just a small crack/hole in the glass allow the ocean to crush you and fill that walkway with water in less than a second? But of course that wouldn't be good for gameplay...

Hmm, maybe not completely realistic, but I still thought it was well done. Through the glass you can see an adjoining walkway get wrecked and then the door leading to that passage starts to buckle and stretch within seconds, so there would be the effect you were looking to see. You could pretend that the plane's tail plugs the corridor enough to stop the water coming in too strong, and that the cracking glass signifies that it is about to all give way any second. However, the fact that nothing ever happens does spoil that.

They really should have made that part fatal if you wait around too long. They didn't have to go to the trouble of showing the corridor fill up, instead they could even have settled for making the glass gradually give way and then a big crash and fade to black, 'Subject: Gordon Freeman'-style.

Yeah. That would be one way to make it realistic and work for playing through that part. But it doesn't matter much. They are going for atmosphere, not realism.

Before you enter the surgery you walk alongside another glass walkway to your left and for some reason you can hear the stomping of the Big Daddies boots and the noises it emits from it's suit, even though you're seperated by two individual corridors between the ocean. How does that work?

Scared the shit out of me though, natch. Was backed up against a pillar trying to stay out of the way of it, but this was early days when I thought the Big Daddies would attack me for being too close to them. It's funny watching them smash Splicers aside. A Rosie hurled one off of a upper wharf peir the other day.
