After a whopping 54 hours of labor, my wife and I now have a brand new baby daughter!

Lillian Sylvi Schaffer was born last night at 8lbs, 11oz (whew!) and is 20.5in long.

And now, cute baby pictures!

Those pics are begging for a photoshop.
Also congrats, may I wish her and the rest of the family the very best.

Do us proud. Dress her as a headcrab while she's still small enough to fit on your head.

Seriously though, grats man! :D :D

Wow, D: 54 hours?

grats :D (though that 3rd pic scares me )

Thanks guys :D

Wow, D: 54 hours?

54 hours? Why so long?

We originally intended to deliver naturally using a midwife at a birthing center, but she didn't progress very quickly... after the first 36 hours at the birthing center, we decided to try and give it a break and got a hotel, hoping that the contractions would stop and we'd just start over in the morning or later in the week. Our daughter had other plans though, so we made the decision to go to the hospital, where they put her on Pictocin (labor inducing drug) and gave her an epidural... she labored for another 8 hours or so after that, and we actually ended up having a cesarean section because the baby was too big to come out the normal way D:

It's weird though, after she was born, the last 3 days of sleeping in 10 and 20 minute spurts just sort of faded away. It seems so long ago now.

Congratulations!

You of course decided to name it after me

Awesome!

Not yet, but one day I'd love to have kids of my own.

Congrats! A cousin of mine dropped an 11lb'er recently and tbh you were all probably better off getting the caesarian in the end - my cousin's baby was such a bruiser and they had such a hard time delivering him that they had to use forceps on his head, and he dislocated his shoulder on the way out (he's fine now though).

Also: do I smell a caption competition??

Awww, beautiful baby. Congratulations man!

Take care of her well, strive to be a great father. Best of luck. :)

Baby humans do look ugly. All of them. I've never seen a human baby that can compare to other baby mammals.

Congrats on the rugrat! :D

I don't know what it is with people who think baby humans are ugly. I think they're adorable.

I don't look at babies and think, "this is okay, but it's not a kitten." Because it's not a ****ing kitten. I don't eat apples and think, well, it could be an orange.

Well then you and I differ on a very fundamental level.

You seriously think babies are ugly because kittens are cuter. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

EDIT: And clearly you've never seen my baby pictures.

I was just fooling around with you, Que. I'm not that stupid :p

[edit] And you'd better post your baby pictures, or we're all gonna be pissed.

Continue your name/legacy, if you trust yourself you could help dilute assholes with your own superior kin, plus it's proof you had sex with somebody.

sorry, voluntary sex.

it's cool. It's spanish, which I realize might not be so prevailant down underneath.
