I am right now going to France.

cool, welcome back to your home FLS. i can attest that southern france is indeed awesome (never been to brittany, but pays de la loire bored me, tbph, though i was really only in nantes). i'd heartily recommend nice and corsica, but only in the off-season (march-april or september). corsica is great if you like hiking and relatively rustic experiences, nice is quite the opposite. they make a great two-week tandem (1st week in nice, ferry to corsica). show us your picks if you get a chance :)

if you don't want to read through the detritus, just look up my posts, they're the only good thing going on around here .

Hey man, welcome back :)
France is a great place, full of great things. I wish I could go there more often :(

What kind of hat?

A vey bad hat.

Hope you had fun, Sparrow. I can't remember the last time I was in France...oh wait, yes I can.

At least you had fun in France, when I went last year fun was somewhat limited. :(

Went for two weeks with my Mom and my younger brother. We were insulted a few times because people thought we were American (were actually Canadian). We had the plan of taking a train into Normandy and then buying bicycles to travel around 30kms a day going accross the beaches of Normandy, that wasn't nearly as pleasant as we thought as bike paths were very limited and we had to bike through muddy farmers fields, lots of rain, sometimes on the shoulder of a major highway where we were all dead scared as cars and trucks were flying past us with the drivers all staring (Those days gave me nightmares). Always a lack of food while biking since we almost never found a town with more than 200 people.

Then finally after 6 days of biking with sore muscles, painful behinds, and a lack of clean clothes (everything we had was stored in back packs) we stopped at this one town and had our bikes stolen, we had planned on selling them used to get some money back once we were done but that couldn't happen now, so we had to take the train (much more pleasant) to get to the rest of our destinations. Needless to say we were all stressed out, tired, dirty, somewhat smelly, depressed, grumpy, and not very nice to each other, and with much less money than we hoped to have.

We were all very happy when the trip finally ended. I know its not the fault of France or the French but when you go through something like that you kind of end up with a sour taste for all things french.

/me ends his story

Glad to have you back Farrow! :p

Im English, its my duty to oppress the French.
And how :)
As Brits when we say we hate the French it's more of a tradition, I feel. France is lovely really.
Renaming it "Freedom Fries" is petty. I can't believe that some of the top politicians in the US thought that was a good idea.

Well you know politicians.... Just watch BBC World if you have access (Its a news channel shown over many sattelite/cable etc networks around the world, its different to BBC 24) and you can see that every politician and bureaucrat throughout the world, is the same.
