But a lot of questions comes into my head:

1:Should I buy a xbox instead all through i like the games to PS2 better?

2:I got a pretty decent pc(256mb graphic,512 ram, 3 ghz processer) so should I just keep on playing on that?

3:I would properly need to buy a tv for my room too and that could cost about $185.(the same as the ps2 and that would double the price)

4:The ps2 is beginning to be old technology so is the graphics really poor on it.

5:Two of the reasons I want to buy a ps2 is that i like to play to on consoles and the seacond reason is four games:Metal Gear Solid 3, Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil 4 and(all through you can get it to pc too) Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit.(I am worried if this is the worst version of the game)

So this is my thoughts , what is yours?

I seriously wouldnt bother spendin the money when theres new stuff comin out, and sounds like you can play pretty well on the system you have, upgraded ram would do nicely tho.

I'd put my PS2 money in the bank and buy a PS3 next year. If you're gonna spend money now, upgrade ur computer (get at least 512MB more RAM). And 256MB RAM on videocard can mean it's any card. From a Ge6200 / X300 'till a Ge7800 / X850. Please specify.

id highly recommend the radeon x800 series, depending on how much money you want to spend

I'm considering buying a PS2 because there are a lot of exclusive games that I want to play on it and I don't want to spend tons of money for a PS3.

I recently spent money on a Gamecube just to play Resident Evil 4 and all I can say is that it was worth it, also bought a new TV.

It's a games console. It's nothing without the games. Get the one with the games you prefer. That said, you may want to wait for PS3.

My graphic card is a 256mb RADEON 9600 series AGP.

And I don´t think I am gonna buy a ps3 anyway.

Well you can probably find a nice cheap Radeon 9800 Pro AGP for a nice low cost, though if you are gonna spend big, upgrade your mobo to support PCIe and get a Radeon X600 or GeForce 6600. RAM could also do with an upgrade. Personally i'd go with the PC upgrade option rather than a PS2, thats just me though

The PS3 is supposed to be $300 or $400 on launch. I'd say put the money away until it's release.

Wait RE4 is also for the ps2
Soon. Just with a lower Polygon count. :p

I'd keep the money and wait. Get a PS3 or Xbox360 or upgrade your PC.

Just get a PS2 because it apparently has the games that you want to play. The PC doesn't, nor does the xbox, so the choice is simple.

Just think about it in terms of what games do you want to play more--if the answer is the PS2 games, then focus your time and money on that. If you prefer PC games, then focus there, likewise with the xbox(though I would just do a 360 at this point if you're going to go that route).

This isn't something that any of us can answer for you--it comes down to what you want to play.

a ps2 should be dirt cheap atm, when the xbox360 comes out they more than likely will be...

don't buy ps2,

I rather wait for November and buy XBOX360.

Is there any way I can sell my ps2 again if I regret.(To stores?)

Probably, yes. But you'll probably sell it for much less.

My advice : Upgrade your RAM with 512 MB as everyone has advised, and get a PCI-E motherboard. Wait until the ATi X1800XT comes out, and buy it. ($250 for apparently 200% better performance than a Geforce 7800 GTX)

I think it's worth it, providing you can get the machine and games cheap (don't be afraid to buy second hand)

Get Ico, God of War, DMC3, Okami, Wanda and Collosus etc etc Games don't come any better than these :)

Wow! Where did you see these figures?! Here's what I found when I looked up the benchmarks, etc:

Overall ATI has managed to finally bring the R520 architecture to market, although over 6-months late. If they had launched it earlier they’d have taken the market by storm, much like the GeForce 7800GTX did at launch. However it will now be a tough sell, the MSRP is around $599 for the Radeon X1800 XT, which is up to $150 more expensive than the GeForce 7800GTX which is faster overall. Same applies to the Radeon X1800 Pro, which will retail at $449, you can buy a GeForce 7800GTX for that amount of money, which honestly hands the Radeon X1800 Pro its own behind. For now it is clear that ATI has managed to launch a new line of graphics cards that keeps pace with NVIDIA’s, kudos to them for staying competitive.

Doesn't sound that great to me. The 7800 is a much better deal and I think it will continue to be that way for some time.

I wouldn't believe either of those figures.

These are quite interesting though.

Sorry for hijackingthe thread.

i've seen a few of your posts and most are on console orientated games so definately get a ps2 imho, it should cost you less than a new graphics card and all that updating your pc will cost a hell of alot more...

plus consoles are sold widespread so should be cheap enough, second hand might not be a bad idea, also consider second hand games like warbie said, you can also sell them back when finished with them too, also alot of the games you want should be cheaper now plus all the back catalogue of games down through the years, metal gear series, silent hill, ico, pro evo soccer(if you like football), gran turismo, gta(if you dont have it on pc) devil may cry 3, god of war, okami(have you guys seen this game) and lots more..

Yeah, those stats are very interesting. Too bad they're from a "sell sheet." That's what these things are made for. I would wait to see reviews from a number of reputable hardware sites that tell the rest of the configuration of the machine they are testing it on and such before I rush out to believe everything I see on a sell sheet. ATI is getting in the game very late this generation and they had better get something that outperforms the 7800, not just equals it. Sounds promising if these figures turn out to be accurate though :E.

And don't worry, its not really hijacking either since we are all discussing part of what the original poster was confused about  .

My gamestop is selling PS2s for $100 to clear out before next gen consoles. Not the slim ones though.
