Hi!:E Er, I mean dammit, I'm having a bad day in the world of Half-Life:angry: Can someone help me figure this out plz? This is an old issue dating back to HL2's inception, it took me two days to finally pinpoint the cause, and I have no idea what to do. See, I have finally figured out that the cause of my video anomalies is not my hardware or software,(I think) it's an old issue called anti-aliasing artifacting. One of the major weaknesses of the Source Engine dating back to the days of yore when HL2 was first released which forced fans to turn AA off because of anomalies, and a problem I still have. I thought newer drivers would have the solution, but NOPE! So, I found this post by Gabe Newell stating the solution:http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3071
I understand that Centroid Sampling is for ATI users only and NVIDIA users have to resort to the second method which is "using Pixel Shaders to clamp Texture Coordinates" Well, how do I exactly do that? I am lost completely and no Google search is procuring any exact step-by-step method. All that troubleshooting was in vain. Heeeeeelp!;(

Gabe was talking about the Source engine technology itself. Unless you're an experienced coder AND have access to the Source sourcecode (lawl), you won't be able to implement these features. I propose you get a new video card. nVidia Geforce 6xxx series are very cheap right now and can run HL2 at high resolution very smoothly.
What are your computer specifications, anyway?

My video card(s) is a dual SLI GeForce 7600GS 256MB, which should pwn anything the 6xxx series can do! Also, I have a 2.4 GHz AMD64 3800+ single core, 2 gigs of RAM( 800MHz, low-latency), Audigy 4 Sound Blaster, WD 160 GB 7200rpm SATA, and a MSI K9N Platinum series nForce 570 mb. HL2 runs smoother than a pair of silk panties on 1280x1024 maximum settings, it's just those f**king anti-aliasing artifacts! None of my other games has this problem. HL2 isn't nearly as pretty without AA.

Dumb question, but you got the newest drivers correct? Ill have to go home and try HL2 with high AA, I normally have it turned down so that I can get a higher resolution. (I have a 6800 Ultra)

Yes, I tried the 93.71 and the 163.71 Forceware drivers. It doesn't help. Before I knew what the problem was, I un-installed the current drivers in safe mode, and even used guru3d's driver cleaner before installing the new ones. Check for anti-aliasing artifacts in a dark area, like a tunnel or cave. It's most noticeable in the Anti-Citizen one tunnels though.
